Noble Words : There is no greater disaster than greed.

in Education11 days ago

The desire of getting more makes people 'greedy.' There are many examples from our society where Greed lead to various conflicts. The insatiable nature of greed can lead to a constant state of wanting more, leaving individuals feeling perpetually unfulfilled and unhappy. Greedy individuals may prioritize their own gains over the needs and well-being of others, leading to strained or broken relationships. They might be perceived as untrustworthy or lacking empathy, further damaging their social connections. Our Sanskrit has following to highlight on this matter :

लोभ मूलानि पापानि संकटानि तथैव च|

लोभात्प्रवर्तते वैरं अतिलोभात्विनश्यति||

Lobha moolaani paapani sankataani tathaiva cha.
lobhaatpravartate vairam atlobhaatvinashyati.

Lobha = greed , too much desire or appetite for money or food.
Moolaani = root cause, main reason.
Paapani = sins.
Tatahiva = as also, similarly.
Cha = also.
Lobhat = due to greed
Pravartate = originates, produces.
Vairam = enmity.
Ati = excessive, too much.
Vinashyati = ruins, annihilates, destroys.

Greed is the root cause of sins as also of dangers. Greed also originates enmity and excessive greed ruins a person.

Greed can negatively impact a person's life by leading to dissatisfaction, stress, anxiety, and potentially harmful behaviors, while also damaging relationships and hindering personal growth. Greed often fuels a constant desire for more, leading to a cycle of never being truly satisfied and experiencing a sense of emptiness. When a person's focus becomes solely on accumulating wealth or power, they may lose sight of their true values and purpose in life. This is why being content is important in life, which makes everything very happy and cheerful.
