Analyze a health-related behavior that is considered unhealthy (such as smoking, unhealthy eating, drinking too much, not getting enough sleep, not exercising, avoiding health screenings, etc.). Based on your readings, describe and analyze how health beliefs are related to this behavior using at least one of the models in the textbook. Examples: Stages of Change Model, Health Belief Model (HBM) or Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Analyze and discuss the psychosocial (emotional, social, financial) influences on health-related behavior that you observe. When you discuss information from a reading, be sure to identify the reading you are using. When you use an informational source, such as the textbook, be sure to share the link to the source you used.

Written Assignment 2
University of the People
Introduction to Heath Psychology

Introduction
In this piece of work. I hope to show the relationship between, a heath related behavior, smoking and and how it can be shown to be replicated in and (HBM) Health Belief Model, Rosenstock (1966) and how it can be approached from a (TPB) Theory of Planned behavior (Ajzen and Madden 1986) and with an emphasize on psychosocial understanding.

Main Section
Smoking may be a disgusting habit but for some it is the best thing they have got hence 1 of many reasons to give up, but confronting people who do and even their practitioner's may improve the situation. If I smoke I may contract lung cancer and it may cost me a lot of money to fix or it may cause death which costs my family a lot including my death but if I do I will be more irritable and stressed out, but I will have more money for the more important things in life. From this statement I have shown susceptibility, severity Rosenstock (1966), costs of carrying out behavior including and the benifets of carrying out behavior with both a negative and a positive of attitudes towards behavior social norms (Ajzen and Madden 1986). The emotional affects are you may feel better about ones self due to being accepted by your peers and will be financially better off due to saving money and saving your life and earning more money Engle (1977). Cues to motivation may be your family and friends clearing their throats every time you pull out a cigarette to smoke or you remembering that the medical practitioner told you what would happen if you do Rosenstock (1966) . This can help with perceived control and health motivation due to confidence and you can draw from your peer group and or family reminding you that you could die or worse leaving your family fatherless/motherless with no one to look after them Engle (1977). Motivating factors are family, friends, work colleagues and your medical practitioner reminding you of your health and the health affects of smoking in the 1st place (Ajzen and Madden 1986) and this may improve your attitude to improving yourself and habitually creating your behavior intention to not light up that cigarette in the 1st place.
Conclusion
With all of these factors taken into account we can account for a variety of factors including psychosocial, HBM and TPB and each of them are equally observable although some are more important then others or at the very least perceived others but all are observable and should be treated equally as to forget one may make any models incomplete. Behavior and perceived behavior may be the most motivating factors of these models but another factor may be the class of the person and ethnicity due to cultural norms and being surrounded by other who also have not chosen to given up smoking as of yet (after Engle 1977, 1980). As it stands the majority of people would listen to their medical practitioner and follow the instructions given especially if their partner were aware of this current medical state, any and all other factors are based on said persons ability to take in the information and act accordingly. Social factors only really come into play if this person shares what he knows with anyone else.
