March has been a slow month for me and I have been quite busy in real life. I only authored 7 posts, of which I set the beneficiary for 2 posts to team Ukrain to support them. Hopefully whatever funds I can raise will help someone in need.
And that's why my account hasn't grown that much in March. The other week, I checked my Hive ranking on HiveBuzz and I ranked 201. I thought it would be nice to break 200, by sadly I've dropped to 202 now. I'm not desperate to move up the ranks as given there are tens of thousands of users on Hive, I'm very pleased with where I am now. If I moved up the ranks, that's great, if not, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
APRIL HPUD GUESSING CONTEST
A HPUD post from me would not be complete without my monthly HPUD Guessing Contest.
Tis the time of the year again to repot my aloe vera. I've been growing them for two years now, starting from one single plant, and I must have 20 to 30 now. I lost count of exactly how many I have as they just keep on growing. Like this pot below. I repotted it last year with just one single plant, and now it has mushroomed to ..... well that's for you to guess.
Here's a couple more angle of the same pot. How many aloe vera plants do you think there are in this pot?
I have finished repotting them today, and 1 has become 5. Some of the pots have multiple plants in them but the pot on the left only has the single large plant. That's all the tip you will get this month.
Ok,I'll give you another tip - there is no more than 12 plants in total. Now you have a 25% chance of winning. Easy peasy!!!

The aloe veras that I have on my balcony keep reproducing too fast. I have so many that sometimes I have to give them away.

I struggle to give them away sometimes. I used to ask friends if they want any, now I just give it to them as gifts so they are too polite to turn me down 😄
They reproduce so fast that I don't ask if they want them, LOL. I give them to my sister, to the neighbors, and to anyone who crosses my path, hehe

Wonderful, I have another species of Aloe plant and she is a queen but not a breeder like these. Must get one of these for sure. Hmmm ki would guess 10 plants :)
Are there different types of aloe vera plants? I didn't know that. A queen would solve a lot of problems if she doesn't keep on breeding, I don't know what to do with mine every year, I get so many!!!
Yes, many of them. I will take a photo of mine and show her to you. She is magnificent and too precious to use it. Lol

There are so many reasons people can't always post on Hive, or maybe NEED to power down to pay staff or meet covid-created business deficits (like me right now) and I think it matters not at all. That Hive is creating VALUE for the community is fabulous. That we have lives and connections outside of our blockchain circles is wonderful. That we can USE Hive to create real life business gains is surely one of the ultimate goals - to have Hive become a real means of exchange as an alternative currency.
I've stopped losing sleep over rankings and HPUD - if anything, the need to power down for 6 weeks to stay afloat motivates me to CREATE MORE HIVE by getting busier posting. And that's a win, however big my stake may be at this moment.
Where Hive can genuinely help those in need, especially those who are on Hive to create value and not here to milk the system, that is great. Sadly, there are too many of the latter around 😌

Great that you finally got the new place to be. Friendly neighbours are very important, but I also learned that it depends often on one self, and I am sure that you are a very friendly neighbour to the others, so they give the same in return.
I think 8! I love aloe, especially the rare flowers it makes when it blooms!
8 is a nice number!! I heard the same about aloe vera flowers as well. One of mine looked like it was going to flower last year and it grew a long thin stalk, I was very excited. Then nothing happened 🙁
I have seen them bloom in South Florida once before, it sounds like yours was going to as well! Maybe it was just 90% there and needed a bit more, so hopefully this year you'll see a bloom or more!
