Doing the HPUD for once, and becoming a Bumblebee

in Hive Power3 days ago (edited)

So I am actually doing it: Staking 130 HIVE, for which I have chosen the first of the month, incidentally qualifying me for HPUD December 2024. As you can guess, this is not something I usually do. To be exact, I never actually participate in this much celebrated staking event called Hive Power Up Day, as you can see on my list of badges.

Unlike with HPUD, I am a very regular participant in InLeo's monthly LPUD, where I have been staking at least 150 LEOs on the 15th of every month since its inception two and a half years ago. (Of course, there is an exception to validate this rule too: on October this year I totally flaked on LPUD. It happens...)

If you want to know my reasoning behind being so involved with one token's power-up day, while virtually ignoring the other's, it's because I have created a steady flow of passive income of LEOs, by delegating to the right account (over 3k of HP to leo.voter to be exact). As for HIVE, I've got no such passive source in place. However, I do get a fairly regular income of HP by simply blogging (as regularly as I want to earn). And it doesn't even need to be powered up. So what prompted me to do it this time?

Getting to Be a Bumblebee!

It was a kind of coincidence that I happened to be looking through my badges on PeakD, when I realized that all I needed was an additional 130 HP to reach the level of 15k HP, which is the threshold to become a bumblebee. I am already a Dolphin as well a ... (I forgot which kind of feline I am in the hierarchy of InLeo!) So reaching the next level of honey-making insects was just too tempting not to do.

Making it a Regular Thing?

The question at this point is, can I make HPUD a regular thing? And would I really want to? As I explained, I don't really see the point in using my HIVE to get additional HP, especially since I am paid out in HP to begin with. However, if there was a way to earn that HIVE passively, I don't see a reason why I should not do it. I remember, I just saw someone posting about their HPUD, including a general discussion on their various tokens on the blockchain. What struck me was how they didn't really know what to do with their LEOs, thinking about selling them for some other second tier token. So I suggested my delegation technique, and maybe someone can recommend me a similar way to earn HIVE passively. (Maybe this thing? I just noticed it, I haven't really looked at it carefully.) Otherwise, no worries! I'll just keep going like I have for the last years, by posting, voting, commenting, etc. That should turn me into a big cat / large ocean creature / hiving insect too.

Sort:

I wish I had had much HP in my account so that I could delegate to Leo. Voter account for accumulating Leo tokens.

Right, but it's all relative. If not 3,000 maybe just 300? Or even just 30. On the other hand, I also wish I had more, like some bigger creatures. No worries, we'll get there...

Yeah I have more than 900 hp.
What about of Leo tokens will I get by delegating 300 hp to leo.voter sir?
Guide me please

Well, seeing that this is a tenth of what I delegate, I'd guess it would be also a tenth, which is about half a LEO a day, or 15 a month.

Ok dear thanks for guidance
