Feedback from the February 1st Hive Power Up Day post...
WHOO HOO! What an awesome result this month! But before I get to the numbers, a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this month's Hive Power Up Day, either through powering up, posting, offering prizes, or spreading the word. As I said on @hivebuzz's
Happy shortest month of the year, everyone! Hard to believe we're already on the second month of 2022 - guess time flies when you're busy watching the price of Hive slowly ticking back up!
Judging from what I've been seeing in my feed (both here and on Twitter), I'd say we're going to have some awesome numbers for February's Power Up Day. I know at least a couple of long time Hivers have made some sizeable power ups, and there have been lots of posts saying, "My first ever power up" (and not just from newbies). It's so encouraging to see all the enthusiasm for hodling during this dip - it's one of the reasons why I tell everyone that Hive is a coin like no other, because of our passionate and dedicated community totally rocks!
Speaking of passionate and dedicated, a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in this Power Up Day by powering up, posting, and/or shouting out on all traditional web 2.0 social media. All of those things help shine a light on our blockchain home, which in turn helps to grow our community. Special thanks to @hivebuzz for always BEEing such an incredible buzz-maker for Hive Power Up Day, and for continuing to add to the fun (looking at you, Hive Power Up Month!). And here's to all the Hiveans who continue to increase their voting power and influence on the blockchain - congratulations to you all!
When I first saw the numbers, even though I was expecting great participation, I was happily surprised that it was even better than I anticipated. Seems like lots of folks took advantage of the recent dip sale on Hive. 😂
To break it all down, we had 102 qualifying entries for the prize pool (compared to 69 in January) with 161 total entries (compared to 121 last month) and 175 posts with either the #HivePUD or #HPUD tags on the first (135 last month).
As for the overall number, the power ups ranged from 0.002 to 4109.500 Hive Power, for a grand total of...
15,993.557 Hive Powered Up!
By comparison, the total in January was 9,748.089. So almost an additional 6k up from last month, and all I can say is...

Just a question: the starting hive power from my account isn’t right. I started with 239.506 HP before my power up from 25.8HP. See my post about it. I have screenshots of before, during, and after. My post
Later that day 10HP was added. Total is correct 35.8HP. What brought my power up to: 275.306 HP on the first of February.
It changes the percentage too, 14.95%

Some very accurate reporting here, the only way if you want the numbers to be exact :)
Unfortunately, there is no history of who had how much SP on any specific date, to do this you need to look at every transaction and count backwards.
The script I use doesn't do that, and just looks at the recent powerups within the HPUD window, and the total HP at the time i do the report. Rewards and powerups can happen during this window between HPUD and the data pull, and so that's why we never get 100% accurate numbers.
Hopefully it's close enough (at least on the amounts powered up) - I just wouldn't recommend using it for tax purposes :)

Should I keep record like this of it every PUD? Would that be helpful… maybe make it an requirement. As I saw in a lot of other PUD posts people did do this. Screenshots of their numbers. Maybe an idea 💡

You can post your power up each month, but the time it takes Traci to put the posts together, I'm not sure she'll want to go around checking everyone's posts.
It's a fun initiative, and hopefully minor discrepancies don't affect things too much.

Thanks in return for understanding, @littlebee4. As it is, I have to manually go through each account on the full list to sort them into the two lists (as there's currently no way to automate it). Requiring screenshots for participation, then having to verify them would make an already time consuming task even more difficult. But I do appreciate the suggestion. 😊

I just took a peek at the list above, and compared it to your wallet, and it looks like you only had 36 Hive powered up before the first of the month, which is short of the required 100...
But now it looks like you're sitting at just over 51 Hive Power, so hopefully you'll hit that mark in time for the March 1st Power Up Day! Please shout out if you have any other questions. 😊
Ah, I see now, the 100HP requirement doesn't include delegations. Does it include the initial delegation that I received from Ecency when I created my account, or is that subtracted from the total as well? Sorry, I'm still learning about these things.
Correct, only powered up Hive counts, not any delegations (even your Ecency one) in order to make it fair to everyone. And no need to apologize - I've been here on Hive for over 4 years, and I'm still asking questions & having a hard time wrapping my brain around some things. 😂
Well, I have just extrapolated out my progress so far, and it looks like you're quite right — I should reach 100HP before 1-Mar-2022, according to my calculations! Let's hope that I can maintain this level of progress in the meantime.
Not only have I loved the HPUD movement for years and have powered up every Hive I have earned, I love to take a look at the prize winners, go through their blogs and add them to my network.
Next month, I will have 1000 Hive to delegate to increase the prize pool. So many HPUDers paid it forward to me and the rest of us locking in value, time to give back!
Congrats to everyone on the powerup huge or tiny. All steps in the right direction.

I have been getting the HiveBuzz awards, but I did not know an additional tag was needed in an official post. To be fair, though, I don't need the delegation prize as a dolphon who delegates much more myself.
I don't either, I do it mostly for the fun of it and to boost the numbers.
LOL! No worries, and if it makes you feel better, you weren't the only one who goofed with missing the tag. It still won't count if you change it now, since the data's already been pulled from the blockchain, but keep it in mind for next month. 😊
