Dictatorship vs. Democracy: Good or bad, Capitalism or Socialism? Trust me, the answer is tricky...
It seems stupid and even ridiculous at first glance, doesn't it? But wait a minute, it is not so easy to choose between these two systems... Let's not forget, not even for a second, that the gear that moves the world is materialism... And style is not some kind of 19th century political philosophy; it is just a real manifestation of the lives of millions of human beings who must survive. And they could not do so without having money to cover their basic needs and to be able to grow in an increasingly dynamic, competitive and highly unequal economy.....
Both forms of government pose themselves as the ‘saviours’ of humanity. Just look at the examples used by those who clamour for restrictions on individual liberties and fundamental human rights... China, the country/monopoly/one-party dictatorship/communist oligarchy that has grown the most in economic terms.... From 1970 to the present day, no country, no economy, no marketing system and no method of political governance has achieved what China has done in less than 60 years. From having a GDP comparable to countries in Africa to now being the second largest economy and leaders in multiple key sectors of technology and trade?
At what cost? Perhaps, you ask .... Well, clearly, one can praise many great things about China, but its political system has normalised censorship, torture, the promotion of ‘one-party’, ‘one-thought’, and has indoctrinated, like sheep, billions of human beings? Yet, not many people ask themselves these questions Why? Well, the key to it all lies in materialism and welfare... In the Chinese case, they decided to turn a blind eye to the outrages of their own government in order to grow economically. Let us not forget that the Chinese moeo would only work in that region, because it is linked to the idea of hierarchy, power and submission that is deeply rooted in Asia....
For this reason, running a Republic, with powers independent of the Executive, as if it were an episode of Succession or The Apprentice, is not possible in democratic systems..... However, in the West, we believe that Europe and America are the Meccas of civilisation... Often ignoring the other regions and imposing a single criterion. Moreover, the worldwide education stupidisation campaign is so gigantic, that less and less people are even interested in learning what caused Communism or the savage Capitalism unleashed by McCartney or Reagan, just to give an example... And yes, I know you will come to tell me about the ‘Singapore Experience’.
Which is nothing more than another dictatorship disguised as a soft dictatorship... Cunning, efficient, economically viable, but a dictatorship nonetheless. .... However, the debate is more alive than ever because there are places in the world where the yoke of oppression suffocates their inhabitants. Both in democracies, such as Hungary or Turkey, as well as in ‘real democracies’ (note the strong irony) such as Venezuela, Russia, North Korea, Cuba. Nicaragua, etc, etc.... This post was born from the idea of a great Spanish journalist and political communicator, David Jiménez, who in his books and in his Podcast, advocates for a world where the atrocities of the past and present will never be forgotten. Today everyone praises the rebels who have ‘overthrown’ the Syrian dictator, but they either don't remember, or don't care to acknowledge that those ‘rebels’ were part of ISIS and are fundamentalist terrorists. Geopolitics, my friends, is dirtier than you could ever believe. If not, ask Al Assad or Muammar Gaddafi.... But it also applies to Trump or Angela Merkel.... Never compromise your critical reasoning, ever.
