In wars, do we have to choose sides? Essay, critical view and analysis

One of the most common actions that the media, in their eagerness to cover events around the world, do is to take sides in conflicts. We can see this in the Russia-Ukraine War or in the current episode of the never-ending war between Israel and Palestine; two countries that since 1947 have been in an armed conflict that stops, stops, stops and stops... The concept of "objectivity" and "neutrality" that many media want to sell us has always been a total lie. And not because I say so, but because history itself has been responsible for showing this fallacy...

With a simple investigation, which is quick and everyone can do, you will notice that the majority of international media conglomerates are directly controlled by a group of white, millionaire, misogynistic, misogynistic men with a very questionable ethical record. Some are well-known members of the faith, such as Warren Buffet, but what you may not know is that on the other side of the conflict there is also money and power. The sheik of Qatar, yes, the same sheik who became world famous for buying the FIFA World Cup in 2010, is also behind one of the world's largest media conglomerates, Al Jazeera, owned by Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani.

What do I mean by this? Quite simply, as thinking human beings, we rarely sit down to really diagnose coldly the facts that are presented to us. On the contrary, the impact of the material that reaches our senses, be it photographs, videos, voiceovers or whatever, directly affects our perception and therefore appeals to our emotionality.... Which ultimately leads us to have to choose a side in the conflict; acting in a bipolar way: either you are with the aggressor or with the aggressed.

And the truth is that life, as well as politics and the very concept of war, is not that simple. Clearly, there are far more far-reaching elements that most of us overlook. Such as economic impact, military might or the desire for territory; which, at least in the case of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, are the trigger for all this war... Very few people can remember how this eternal war was born, and worse, how it has impacted on the region where it happens...

From 1947 to the present day, Palestine has shrunk from containing about 48 percent of the territory it historically held, while Israel has obtained the remaining 52 percent. Today, the amount of land that comprises the nation is almost non-existent. It comprises two very distinct chunks of territory. One in the West Bank and the other in an extreme, heavily populated and impoverished place called the Gaza Strip, which, from its name, can be inferred to be no more than a narrow stretch of territory?

By stating this unquestionable fact am I pro-Hamas or pro-Palestine? A lot of people would think so... And for that to be the case is what I consider one of the worst brainwashings the media has ever done. Because there are many, many more facts, which are facts, not opinions, but which the vast majority of people who today fill their mouths for one cause or another, are really unaware of... For example? The settler camps that Israel has, in the already limited portion of territory that Palestine owns. Yes, just as you have read it... In the 21st century, one country maintains settlers on the territory of the other.

This fact has been denounced by the international community, including the United Nations. Absolutely not. Is Hamas part of Palestine? Theoretically no, but at the same time yes. This radical/terrorist group has a civilian life in the Gaza region, but at the same time it is known to be the armed wing of the fragile and controversial clerical state of Iran.... Let's not forget that they have on multiple occasions called for the destruction of Israel, useful fools? Draw your own conclusions...

What do I mean by this, by all this? That the next time a new and bloody episode of this absurd, illegal and unequal war comes to your senses, think, inform yourself, and above all, form an opinion that really has its genesis in you and not in the interests that the media, the power groups, or even religion wants you to have. Never forget that for decades wars have not only been fought on the battlefield, but also on the social and digital field. We are pawns, we have to know how to play chess...

Cold thinking is more important than acting out of emotion... It applies to everything in life.
