It's difficult for me to comprehend how non violent differences of opinion which deviate from the common narrative are harmful to others.
With the internet, we have this amazing ability to choose what we consume and what we do not consume. Perhaps this is freedom of choice?
If an idea/opinion/belief deviates from that of a central authority, we find ourselves needing a decentralized solution, like Hive.
But is Hive decentralized when a body of authority can dictate the visibility of a persons ideas/opinions/beliefs, while diminishing/cancelling out any possibility of rewards and increased visibility from other agreeing parties?
If I made a post which outlined an unpopular belief, and the post was downvoted by an account that supersedes the power of all accounts voting on the post beneath it, I start to feel like its a mainstream social media outlet, with a little more "pig in a blanket" feel to it, where everyone is nibbling at the little crusty flaky outside layer, while avoiding the pig in the middle.
Please excuse the strange metaphor, it came to me while composing this reply. I would hope that it's not considered a dangerous opinion for others to read.
I does look like we need to finally drop the idealist stance that decentralization is inherently "good". And that everything that positions itself as decentralized is, in fact, decentralized.
Hive can only be a truly decentralized (anarchist) entity if—and only if—some central authority decides to make it so. Paradoxically. Isn't that right?
Thank you for your thoughts on this topic.
The idealist inherently good mindset mitigates the idea that we are still operating within a pyramidal power structure which is representative of much of what is wrong with the real world, and is the fear of biting into the pig in the middle which keeps people quiet.
Seems that way yeah :/
the "problem" is TOKEN DISTRIBUTION.
(IFF) 20 accounts control 51% of the active votes (THEN) decentralization is dead (which is fine, just stop pretending)
however,
if someone can place a witness within the top 20, it can block any NEW changes to the blockchain.
generally, people shouldn't be able to constantly change the rules in their own favor - the top 20 can freeze and or outright steal accounts at will.

is your witness currently inactive ?
What is your opinions on A top 20 witness supporting Racist shit posts and my flags on this persons account? 😅 https://peakd.com/someeofficial/@brundlefly/stupid-white-cracker-asses
@frankbacon @logiczombie
Yeah pulling back the curtain of truth just to find a rabbit you have to relentless follow to understand the bigger picture just to find out decentralization with a DPoS system really does create weird scenarios in which the blockchain imitates life. We really do have gross double standards in this community currently. I still have faith these hypocritical behaviors by both witnesses and others is just a reflection of the chaos and apocalypse this world is experiencing and perhaps that is the brilliance of HIVE and how it imitates life. I mean non hateful informative anti government content by individuals either get dinged automatically with downvotes for vindictive purposes ie bully behavior or for political reasons.
But shit posting a plagiarized meme centered around racism will get you a $25 upvote from a top 20 witness and a welcome message from @hive.buzz
That auto spaminator downvote is ruthless.
I have decided temporarily deactivate my Witness node.
Planning to reactivate very soon :)

I have questions, sir. What happens when I vote an account as a witness? Why is it important? What happens if I don't vote anyone?
precisely.
Isn’t this meant to be the whole point of decentralised social media that one can share outlier opinions? These posts get the most interaction on Fb too out of any so I don’t know how it’s classified as a shit post.
Unfortunately.
