The world's attention is focused on Ukraine and what Vladimir Putin will do next. This conflict is hurting all of us; prices is rising, shortages are increasing, and everyone is being forced to choose sides. Can our world afford another war right now? China may be preparing for war with Taiwan as its objective. The People's Liberation Army is taking risks. It staged military drills near Taiwan, which we know China has been doing for a long, but this time was different because the Chinese were rehearsing how to attack Taiwan.
Why are the Chinese acting so aggressively? The conflict in Ukraine has had some unforeseen implications for China, and calls to safeguard democracy in Taiwan are getting stronger. Three recent developments explain Beijing's desperation; nevertheless, will these events push China over the edge? Will China attack Taiwan?
We'll talk about that later, but first let me tell you about the drills that the Chinese military conducted recently. We can't confirm the date, but they're believed to have taken place sometime last week, and all branches of the PLA were involved. Today, China shared some details that sound alarming. The island of Taiwan was surrounded from both sides by the Chinese navy, which deployed a powerful aircraft carrier as well as a large number of warplanes and warships and conventional missiles in other words taiwan was surrounded by the PLA then they practiced maneuvers.
The PLA drill was a partial rehearsal of a possible reunification by force operation the chinese military practise specific scenarios like neutralising Taiwan's military like cutting the militaries of the US and Japan if they try to intervene so they're preparing for all eventualities Taiwan claims China remains a threat. Japan is raising the alarm, claiming that Ukraine's crisis might be reproduced in East Asia in relation to Taiwan. Peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are vital not only for Japan's security but also for the security of the region.
Taiwan claims China remains a threat. Japan is raising the alarm, saying that Ukraine's plight could be replicated in East Asia with regard to Taiwan. Peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are critical not only for Japan's security but also for the stability of international society. Japan maintains its position that issues surrounding Taiwan will be resolved peacefully through dialogue, and the situation will be closely monitored from that perspective. Beijing is unimpressed, accusing Tokyo of exaggerating and inflating the China threat. Japan has regularly used diplomatic operations to raise concerns about China.
Exacerbate regional tensions and hype the so-called China threat Japan is doing this to justify its own military buildup and to weaken mutual confidence and cooperation among regional countries, which is detrimental to regional peace and stability and is doomed to failure. China is vehemently opposed to Japan's aggressive drills and comments. Why do you believe China is doing this, especially in the midst of economic difficulties and a spreading pandemic? We can think of three explanations for China's newest outburst. The first is from the United States. Previously, the United States State Department's website classified Taiwan as a province of China.
The website now contains a page dedicated to US-Taiwan ties, and the modified version of this page no longer states that Taiwan is a part of China. This is not the only change; before, a statement said that the US does not support Taiwan's independence; this language has also been removed.
Because the United States never formally supported Taiwan's independence, these moves represent a shift. So yet, the United States has just said it on a website, but the message is obvious. America is willing to back and arm an independent Taiwan, which is reason number two for China's hostility. The United States is actively shaping Taiwan's defence against China. Washington is engaging with Taipei, and it wants Taiwanese forces to train for asymmetrical warfare, abandoning heavy weapons in favour of missiles and smaller arms. Needless to say, the United States is ready to supply these weapons. In the past, China has threatened to retaliate against such weapons transfers, but those threats have not deterred the United States.
The west didn't stop them then, and they won't stop now. The US is supporting Taiwan militarily and diplomatically as of today, and Taipei is trying to capitalize on this momentum, which brings us to the third reason why China is acting up. Recently, Taiwan announced a new bid to join the World Health Organization, and China is already putting up roadblocks.
properly, in order to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the seriousness and authority of the relevant UN General Assembly decisions and the who We warn the dpp authorities to cease using the epidemic to participate in political manipulation; otherwise, they will simply bring dis honour upon themselves before the battle in Ukraine. The world was skeptical about China's threats, but the last two months have shown that nothing should be ruled out. The risk of a Taiwan invasion cannot be ruled out because the Chinese military is preparing for war. These drills are a worrying sign because they could push our world into another crisis.
