We have received the sad news of families and friends who were travelling but lost their lives in an auto-crash, may their soul rest in peace.
It has been reported by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) that they have confirmed about 11 persons dead while one amongst them is unconscious, this happened at the very close place to the Four Corner Junction along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, in Enugu State.

The accident is reported to have taken place at about 8:45pm on the Sunday 30th October, about a week ago,
the FRSC state commander, Mr Joseph Toby, made the information known to the news Agency of Nigeria on the following day which was Monday

This accident was due to the collision that happened between a 14-seater bus and a truck, the bus was loaded with over 12 passengers, while the truck was with the driver and the conductor as usual.

The 14-seater bus was heading to Kano from owerri, the capital of imo state. Thanks to God for the good hearted individuals who contacted the FRSC and as well the FRSC marshals who also contacted the state fire service to be at the scene of the accident to rescue the victims

From the report of the State marshals, he said that it is likely that the bus might have had one or more gallon of inflammable substance like fuel, which made it easy for the fire ignition at the collision of the two vehicles. This at this point is something to look into, it was not just an accident but a serious fire explosion that took the fire service several minutes to put out.

“Then, we (FRSC officials), moved in and recovered the trapped and dead bodies in the bus.
“The only survival of the bus, who jumped out of the bus forcefully and still unconscious, have been taken by our personnel to the accident and emergency ward of University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu,” he said. link.

In the report the commander, He noted that the 14-seater bus was burnt beyond recognition but could only verify the registration number to be KTG 41 XD via the FRSC system but could not trace it to any individual, as such all effort put together to trace the relatives of the victims were very difficult, Again the commander went ahead to advise motorist and passengers, to repent from the temptation of embarking on the night journey.

Toby advised motorists and passengers to refrain from the temptation of night travels and “learn to plan their journeys ahead of time during the day time”.
“We beg motorists to desist from carrying gallons of fuel or other inflammables in their vehicles or bus loaded with passengers along journeys notwithstanding the benefit from such a negative and dangerous act,” he added. (NAN)

Other have also reported that only one person out of the 14 passengers survived, many have said that he escaped from the window, while others are saying that he was helped by sympathizers, thanks to God for the vanguard news men, who have followed up on the survival victim.

Vanguard learnt that the lone survivor, is currently receiving treatment at the Emergency Unit of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, UNTH, Ituku-Ozalla.
Confirming the auto crash, Sector commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Enugu command, Joseph Toby, said that the commission has been warning drivers on the risk associated with night journey.
Toby said that the only surviving person was unconscious when they rushed him to UNTH yesterday.
He also said that the Hausa community have approached the commission to allow them bury the burnt bodies.
“That’s what happened. We learnt that they are travelling to Kaduna before the accident occurred at four corner on Sunday night.
“We have been warning drivers about the risk in night journey but they gave it a deaf ear. The Hausa community in Enugu is making arrangement to bury the burnt bodies.
“The only surviving person was rushed to hospital immediately but still unconscious with doctors attending to him,” he said. link.

With this i will also want to join my voice with voice of the FRSC marshals, to ask that many who enjoy night journey, repent from it for their self interest and benefit, it is possible that this incident might have been rescued before it went that bad but because it was at night and before the fire service could reach the scene of the incident, it has become a story. It is always said that a word is enough for the wise.

Thanks so much for all of you that have supportive, i want you all to know that i don't take it for granted, i sincerely appreciate all of you who create time to read my blog and as well give your support, thanks God bless you real Good. @lady-tee, your baby girl.
