Best I can figger at this time is that Tokaev and Putin have ousted Nursultan Nazarbayev, and are presently solidifying Tokaev's rule.
All I know is from some social media postings from Kazakhs on the ground, seeing some videos of guns being provided to protesters, and security forces surrendering prior to Nazarbayev's flight from the country. Once he was gone, Tokaev stated protesters would be shot on sight, and Russian forces officially entered the country to suppress demonstrations.
Looks like a coup to me.
