Sometimes I wish modern game designers had some of the mindset of retro game optimization instead of relying on massive drives and high-speed internet to deliver bigger files and bloat. Modern Call of Duty games are specially egregious: modern shooters with tens of gigabytes to download just for routine updates, and they run like garbage on powerful consoles or computers much of the time.

i totally agree. games the size of 80 GB? no way. they should try to keep them under 3 GB if you ask me. its the market that demands the super high res graphics with take up all that space, but the skill of the artist is to work within constraints, you know? thats why i like looking at old PS1 games to see how they made things look
