Ladies of Hive Community Contest #66

Hi to the ladies of Hive and to all other Hivians of course!

This is my first time participating in the weekly contest. Thanks to @beeber who inspired me to join this great community. 🙂 Short warning: I wanted to write only about 400 words...but...there are some more waiting for you...😬

This week’s questions are:

1) If you had to get a tattoo right now, what tattoo would you choose?

OR

2) Do you think you’ve ever encountered a ghost?

As I can’t remember that I ever encountered a ghost until today, I will focus on the first question regarding a tattoo.

Well, as of today I don’t have a tattoo.

But I have a clear idea of what a tattoo will look like, in case I would get one. I will reveal this at the end of this blog post. Beforehand I would love to tell you the story behind, which is quite personal and may inspire others hopefully.

So let’s start…

...once upon a time…

There were times when I was thinking of getting a tattoo, but I never did so.

I always asked myself, what if I will be a 100% sure today that a tattoo of, for example, a butterfly together with a quote or a specific word is totally in alignment with myself, but it will not be anymore in about 10 years?

As a human and spiritual being I’m growing year to year, day to day and during the last 10 years I learned a lot about myself and as I am growing some believes or opinions changed over time.

So I always was quite hesitating to get a tattoo and I also did not know what exactly I should choose as a timeless theme with which I would still be happy at the age of 111. (this is the age I am looking forward to, by the way.. 😎)

Next week I´m turning 45 and almost exactly on that day 10 years ago when being in my mid thirties I was struggling with burn out. I was full of fear, anxiety and felt quite hopeless that life would ever be good again. Always in a worry, not trusting life or even myself anymore. A very challenging time for me - but looking back from today the best ever could happen to me.

Why am I telling you about this and what has this to do with getting a tattoo or not?

A lot.

Over the past years there always was the idea of getting a tattoo with the following four words:

born to be happy

During that tough time I learned a lot about mindfulness, meditation, health and how to deal with stress. And I also learned how to love myself again.

I learned that I am here to be happy.
I am not here to hurry and hustle through life.

Of course one can have their goals and be productive af, that’s all ok, don’t get me wrong. But it is of utmost importance to also set sufficient time aside to recover body, mind & soul from this high speed world in which we are living.

And so one day I grabbed a lipstick and wrote my new motto of life on the inner side of our bathroom cupboard. (in Germany we call it Alibert!😉) and until today I never wiped it out - always cleaning around these words since years now 😂 here’s the proof:

Every time when opening this cupboard I see these words and they remind me of always being grateful for being born, alive and healthy.

These four words mean a lot to me. Of course there will be times in life, in which I will not be happy. This is life. And I am not a fan of 24/7 positive thinking, cause sometimes things happen which are absolutely not positive. And to have a good cry is worth a lot on some days.

But I am sure that our key reason to be here is to simply be happy. To simply live a life that makes us happy and content, that keeps us healthy. That we can be happy in seeing the beauty and magic of the small things. To just lay in the grass and watch the clouds fly by. To recognize the beauty of a frozen flower in winter.

Or to simply just be.

Another handbag or a pair of shoes will make us happy for about 5 minutes, but what makes us really happy deep inside?

And when time went by and I recovered more and more from burn out I some day felt the strong need to tell the whole world how awesome it is to feel happy again and how to change ones thinking and lifestyle to a positive and happy one. To show people that it is possible to become their happiest and healthiest self and most important of all, that it don’t has to be that hard, as we often think.

So 2017 Born to be happy was born - my own business where I am writing about a happy and healthy lifestyle and also offering my services as a coach for holistic health and happiness. As I didn’t want to use my lipstick writing as my logo, this one was born..in my favorite colors:

Now let´s get back to tattoos.

As these words „born to be happy“ mean so much for me, I can image to get these tattooed one day on my right inner forearm, where I can read it every time. And it should definitely include a tiny little smiley. I love smilies! 😀

I would not choose a part of my body like my back for a tattoo, as I want to see it any time I want. I think about it been written in my own handwriting and in my favorite colors orange and yellow maybe with a slight shadow of the letters in black.

These four words are timeless for me. I don’t think that I would regret to have these words on my body forever.

Just tried to how it should look like...but of course not in blue ink and in nicer letters..I love handlettering, but on my own forearm it was quite difficult..

What do you think? Shall I open a tattoo studio?? 😉

As one main goal of ladies on hive is to empower each other, I hope that my story will inspire maybe some of you to keep on believing in yourself also when having a hard time. What I learned is, that all struggles I had in life, were necessary to unfold something new, something beautiful.

Believe.
In.
Yourself.

..also 3 nice words for a tattoo

Thanks for sharing your time with me and reading till the end and a big thank you to the ladies of hive for this contest.
