Except, it falls down without support, and bugs and vegetation gets into it.
The automobile tire is wonderful at keeping the dirt in and bugs out.
It is an interesting symbiotic system.

generally u dont need to put anything to hold the tyres in place.. gravity does all the work, but we do use rebar pins that go through around three layers.. esp on the top courses.. just like long nails going down... not sure u even really need them.. also as you pound them in place. they bulge nicely so they fit very snug..
