PRACTICE DOES NOT MAKES PERFECT, WHAT DOES? (Let me tell you a story)

According to my understanding,
Being perfect is just an illusion. No human being can be perfect. However, anything can be done perfectly with love and dedication.

Let's begin with the story 🗣
I was at a gathering in preparation for Xmas carol service where we had to sing a particular hymn. It was a very common hymn that anyone who frequently attends the usual "Church service" should be able to sing.

Were they able to sing the hymn?
Hmm... Yes, they did. Only that they sang something different from what the composer of the hymn had written. You needed to see how bold they were while singing. They sang wrongly with so much confidence.
I could have sworn that they have been singing like that for a donkey of years.

Both old and young, everyone was singing wrong notes. They had changed the rhythm of the song and they had refined its entire structure, just to fit into their context. I was so surprised. I know it wasn't intentional, they grew up to learn it like that; they passed it orally from one generation to another. They became perfect singing it wrongly. I just flow along with them as they sing. So, after they were done singing, I stepped up to correct them, and in the process, you could see the disappointment on their faces.

Some of the elders in the choir must have felt like: "You this little boy, where were you when we started singing this song?" 😃
Well, thanks to God I had the hymnal with me on my phone and I had to teach them the correct version. Were they able to sing it? No. It is always very difficult to unlearn what you've assumed to be correct for a long time. It is easier to learn new things than to unlearn an old practice or belief. They struggled to adjust just a little after several dealings. Eventually, we had to sing it in the usual way they were used to.

What do I want to bring out?
Practice alone does not make one perfect; correct practice is what brings competence. If you keep practicing in the wrong way, you'll
become competent in doing it wrongly. You'll know how best to do it wrong. Unfortunately, you'll keep getting wrong results when you keep using the wrong formula. One of the ways to save you from time-wasting is to submit yourself to someone who had gone ahead of you; one who could guide you to do it correctly. A coach or mentor does that for you. You'll learn how to do it the right way.

Many people always look for free things, you won't grow like that; you can't harvest if you have not invested. Many of the people you admire today paid people to learn what they know. I could remember clearly when I started learning guitar 🎸 and keyboard 🎹, apart from that, it was not easy from start. I sacrifice money, time, or space, I have to reschedule my plans, things I used to do before, I stop doing it just to have more time to learn. I try to acquire knowledge as much as I can and now am enjoying what I labor for back then. As they say "Rome was not built in a day"

Do you know what brings skill?
Consistent accurate practices. If you learn the wrong way you will produce the wrong result. In all your getting, get the right knowledge.
