This is an interesting topic that requires some crticial thinking to be able to arrive at a conclusion. However, there are going to be contrasting views on this topic. We all have different experiences in life and that of destiny and karma will not be a different case. Destiny and Karma are often used interchangeably by some people, but I feel they are different. Destiny simply put means something that is predetermined and will happen no matter what the situation is while Karma on the other hand is that which is caused by your actions, if you are good, you will get good things in return, if you are bad, bad things will be your lot.
However, the above seems to be the usual explanation for these two, but I believe that the things we do, whether good or bad will on the long run affect our destiny. In the real sense of it, there is no destiny that can not be altered. We are humans, and not some robots, or a programmed being that is certain that we are definitely going to get a particular result. For instance, there is a story about a young man whose destiny was revealed to him by a seer or let's say a Prophet, he was told that he will be the most successful of all the children that his parents birthed. The moment he heard this, his mentality changed. He stopped working towards his goals because he believed that he will definitely be successful even if he doesn't work. Unfortunately, he lost track of his goals and was as poor as a Church rat.
There are so many people who are destined to be a failure in life but due to the fact that they met with someone in the course of their life, who motivated, encouraged and inspired them to break away from their shell, they became successful and changed their destiny from bad to good. So, it may be partially wrong to assume that destiny is predestined and can not be changed. I said partially because there are some parts of our lives that may have been destined such as the parents that are going to give birth you, your race, the country you'd be born and so on. There is always an exception to every rule and the rule that guides destiny and karma isn't exempted.
As humans we have the ability to change our destiny for good or bad through the decisions we make as each day goes by. We are the author of our lives, it is the form we want our lives to take that it will take. The first rule is never to be rigid. When you are dynamic and fluid, you can rewrite you destiny for good and breaking the rule of "destiny is predetermined and can not be changed". This is where karma comes to play. If you have a supposed good destiny and you are working against it, the destiny will become bad in no time. I have seen students who were brilliant in their first year in school, packing all the highest scores in most courses but turn out to be the dullest after some semesters - just because they derailed by joining bad companies of students who neither study not attend lectures. Karma!
Personally, I may not be at the point of my life that I am today if I had chosen to thread some path. It is a decision that I had to make and I made it with my full chest. There are some people who can change your destiny if you agree to their terms. The decision and action that you take can either make or destroy you (karma and destiny).
Wow, this is lovely. Thank you for this piece, it's really inspiring and interested.
Hi, thanks for reading.
Really that's it. I like the approach you give to differentiate both terms. I remembered the title of a novel I saw a few years ago "two women one path." Somehow you got me thinking and I probably wrote my contest entry.
Greetings to you.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you. I will stop by at your blog to read your entry as well
