It was supposed to be the end of season 8, but after reading the responses to the last question "What Prevents Action?" I have decided to ask one more! I found it very interesting how the majority of you commented in your posts that FEAR of one kind or another is responsible for preventing change in this world. I think you have also described around 10 kinds of fear, all of which cause us to hold back from doing something that might be very important in our lives. It really seems that these days we are gripped by fear of one form or another, and i think it would make a great final question to look at this and see if we can understand where it is coming from.
So this week the question is very simply, "What Do We Fear, Why Do We Fear?". Your answer can speak about what things you we and people in general are fearful when it comes to change, and why do you think it is so common? There are many kinds of fear, but all of them result in the same thing, INACTION or NONE ACTION! We may fear so many things and I would be especially interested to hear WHY you think we as a society have fear instilled in our hearts and minds.
Is fear something that is a natural human quality? Is it bred into us by our family or by our friends? Perhaps it is put on us by society pressures, or the media. The media certainly seem to speak about fearful topics all day every day! Do you think we are more or less fearful than we used to be, say 10, 20 or 100 years ago? I would be interested to hear if you think we are becoming more fearful over time. This would be very interesting because in many ways you would expect us to become less fearful as we learn more, have better technology, and more access to global information and solutions. Who knows, maybe the more we know and learn the more fearful we become!
