Hi Hiveans,
Hello and welcome to my page. I am @elshammah. Please follow me as i share my insight to the statement "If Not You Then Who? If Not Now Then When?"
Before i proceed i must first commend the effort of @ecotrain for bringing this topic to us to explore and share our respective insight on it.
I'd always been a pet in the hands of my mum before her demise. I was virtually helped in doing almost everything. I never struggled to have what i wanted because my mum and dad gave me the best of whatever i wanted or ever craved for not until the moment i lost my mum on a fateful day.
I never learnt how to prepare meal at the kitchen because I've been used to housemaids preparing the daily meal for me from childhood. I enjoyed the luxuries of life and it seems it'll ever continue this way for life. When people says they wants to go to heaven and leave this world of struggling, pains and penury, I often say that my heaven begins here so i rather enjoy my lifetime and live to never die because I can't imagine my self forgo all these luxuries of life. Whenever I was confronted with one challenge or the other, my mum and maids were at my beck and call and they were always ready to keep me safe. Though my mum was also a disciplinarian that doesn't take shit for a yes. Whenever i cross my boundaries she scolds me as well. So this registers in my mind at all times. I loved my mum so dearly and love my Dad and siblings as well. This continued till i was at age 5plus when i lost my mum a week after bearing our last born, a boy but now a young man.
From the moment i lost my mum and the maids went back to their abode, the nature of life became a terrible nightmare to me. I started learning how to do some house chores and cooking as i was almost age 6. My Big brother @daniky was really of help to me. He thought me lots of things starting from sweeping and mobbing of the floor, disposing refuses in an incinerator, cooking and many more. I learnt alot from my Dad as well too because he's a wonderful cook. As time proceeded i got admitted to a boarding school, there i came to understand the statement "If Not You Then Who? If Not Now Then When?"
No one was at the boarding school to help do one thing or the other because if i don't who will? Nobody of course. Besides, if not now when will i start being responsible for myself and others. So i took the bull by the horn and started doing things myself without anyone's assistance. The training i acquired helped me to scale through lots of hurdles in life and this has been a driving force for my life ever.
Today i can prepare virtually any meals I'm asked to prepare (especially local dishes and some intercontinental dishes), i can produce diverse detergents, soap, creams and many more. My skills and knowledge had paved diverse job opportunities and recommendations to work in various organizations. Thanks to my big brother and father for the great training I received into becoming the better lady i am today. All I've achieved today shouldn't have been possible had it i never stood up to my responsibilities at an early stage in life. Life indeed, is more than luxuries. Today i occupy a key post at my workplace and saddled with lots of responsibilities. I never have to wait for someone to help before getting things done and i make sure i do what I'm supposed to do when due because if not now when will i do them? and if not me who will?
Our destiny lies in our hands and you're liable for whatever happens to your life because you are the principal of your situations. So never handle situations with levity. Be ups and doing. Never transfer the blames of your misdemeanors on others. Face situations with courage and never give up till you get there. Life is principled.
This is my entry to #QOTW Challenge. Hoping to read your post too and go through your feedback as well.
