Today I'm continuing my gardening report as yesterday the app didn't let me post more photos for some unknown reason. Please feel free to check out my yesterday's post.
Cabbages and cauliflowers. Not long ago I had a conversation with @abitcoinskeptic about cabbages, he has already made sauerkraut using his home grown cabbages. Ours are nowhere near harvest, don't even have a "head".
A few big leaves, a few smaller one in the middle and that's all. I guess it needs a month and a half or two till we can have some cabbage from the garden. Different climate, different growing schedule.
Some sweetcorn, which I love so much. This is just to eat once or twice.
Cucumbers. We used to have plenty each year and when I say plenty, imagine two or three rows. This year this is the only one that is growing. When the lockdown was lifted, it was too late to plant cucumbers again. Good thing we still have pickles from last year. Better luck next time, right?
This row should have been full of cucumbers, instead it's full of weeds.
This should be pumpkin or squash, we don't know yet as the neighbor has mixed up the seeds. We'll see I guess.
This is clearly squash, growing nicely, almost ready to be eaten.
I'm hoping to get a few of these as I like the pottage and it's healthy too.
Italians love to cook the flowers too, it's a delicatessen for them. I've never tried that. Maybe one day.
This jungle is carrots and parsley. Now it look better but I forgot to take a photo and now I'm too tired to go out for one.
This is celery, which I don't really like. It has a strong flavour and I'd better stay away from it. My dad loves it, so celery can't be missing from the garden.
Savory, a spice that cannot be missing. I use it for cabbage soup and not only. These are growing nicely.
Beetroots. This is a miracle in my opinion. We all love a good beetroot salad and always planting some but we consider ourselves lucky if we get three or four. This year we're going to have plenty. This row is all beetroot!
Look at them, how healthy they are. @plantstoplanks is always posting beetroot soup recipes and I'm always drooling but have never made a soup. Now it's time I believe.
Dill, one of my favourite green spices, excellent for squash pottage.
Grapes are also looking good, even though we could not do the work needed in time. Looks like that doesn't matter as they are growing nicely.
So this is my gardening report. I hope to show you more in a month or so.
