Yesterday morning it was dumping rain when I woke up. The doppler showed just how intense the storm was. This was the backside of the storm that dropped all the snow the day before but it was drawing its moisture from way south so it was quite warm.
It dumped rain until around 7 or 7:30 and we got our soak in as the eaves drained water.
Once the rain had stopped I took the gauge inside to thaw the ice and measure the water content. We had gotten 2 inches of snow the day before then all the rain overnight. It amounted to .89 inches of water. We got nearly 3/4 inch of rain.
I had destroyed myself shoveling and it took me a bit to feel like I could shovel more. I got a message that I had grain ready in town so I had to go excavate the trailer. The snow is super packable now and super heavy. Luckily I didn't have to move too much to get the trailer free.
The later afternoon sun peaked through the thinning clouds and gave a nice glow around the farm for a while.
I managed to get the trailer out and ready for my trip this morning which I have already come home from.
I got a fire going in the pit for grilling later on.
I spent part of my day packing my pack for a camping trip to the cave up north. I'm going to snowshoe in and Art might skin in or snowshoe. It will be a couple mile slog through deep snow to the cave.
The steaks went on to grill then after we ate we ended up back soaking.
The exertion of the week has me pretty worn out so I did not make it very long and was inside around 9pm and soon in bed.
This morning I have been to town to get grain and once it is light enough I will go empty them. Mid morning I will be heading north and will likely be back Monday morning.

We also caught a fair chunk of that snow. The main roads are fine, but the back roads that have been plowed are skating rinks. Anything that wasn't plowed is probably frozen ruts.
Hope you got enough rest to enjoy the camping trip. We are getting the rain today on top of the snow which will then freeze solid at below 0F temps for the next 2-3 days.
This content really is nice. However i wish you safe journey. Or if you've embarked on the journey, I wish you a safe one back. Stay good!
