Can spirituality and technology live together??
Yes of course, Firstly what is spirituality? According to the thesaurus dictionary, Spirituality can be said to be the appreciation for religious values. On the other hand what is technology? Technology is the organization of knowledge for practical reasons.
So going by these two definitions spirituality can either be good or evil depending in the context. Let us take for example in churches today, technological devices are used to share the word of God, you see things like electronic bibles, electronic reading manuals, audiovisual and visual devices and other technological devices used to share the word in churches. In the children's department of the church also technological devices are used to teach children mostly since children are visual learners.
Also in the current state of nature where life is driven by technology, every other thing that has been in existence are now adjusting and aligning itself to the norms of the world which is technology. Spirituality is not an exception like i mentioned earlier, spirituality can either be good or evil depending on the cintext and i have already stated how technolohy and spirituality can coexist in the church. Now let us look at the opposite part of good(evil).
When God created man and Adam who is the progenity of sin fell from grace in the garden of Eden, man did not just gain the knowledge of good and evil, man also acquired the knowledge to create things and use them in noth gooe and evil ways. So anything that can be used to do good can also be udef to do evil, let us take for example, the same technological devices that can be used spiritually and also to teach spirituality in the church can also be used to draw people away for spiritual morality. Like for instance technology can lead to unhealthy additions,
evil communication, and it is easy for immorality to spread rapidly therefore contaminating spiritual morality. Without the existence of evil we will not know the importance of good, so the coexistence of spirituality and technology is possible because God allows it. Firstly, he has given mankind the wisdom to create things and dominate, but the devil whose duty is to destroy and contaminate everything that looks good to God and man must also have his way. In this ict age where information flies wirhout waste of time different religions send messages about their own form of spirituality to other parts of the world through technology. In Nigeria when the terrorist group called Boko Haram started talking about their spirituality and with the use of technological devices they have been wreaking havoc on people that do not share in their ideologies, killing them and doing all sorts of evil and transmitting them for the world to see. In that context, that is only possible because of the coexistence of spirituality and technology.
Spirituality and technology can actually work together, i wont dispute that fact, afterall some believers do listen and watch some of the men of God preaching the gospel of christ via you-tube and gets connected spitually and obviously do embrace the touch of the holy spirit. Yeah, i could remember vividly when this deadly disease called "corona virus" was really attacking and destroying the lives of those innocent lads and also the lives of the old men and women, for that reason we were all asked to be indoor just to avoid the spread of that particular deadly disease.
Well, at that period we all felt very bad, but never gave up on worshiping and praising God via social media.
