I was born and raised in the middle of Vietnam. This is considered the harshest land in our country, with erratic sunshine and rain. A place that often suffers from natural disasters, especially storms and floods. 2020 is a year that we can't forget. The COVID pandemic has had a severe impact on social life. Not only that, our middle country was ravaged by storms and floods unprecedented in history in 2020.
The flood in the Central Region in 2020 (also known as the flood,[2] Historical flood) is a storm and flood that swept across central Vietnam from the night of October 6th to the morning of October 7th. 2020 to early December 2020, concentrating mainly in the provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue of the North Central region, a part of the South Central region including Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and North Central Highlands. During October, November, tropical depression circulation,[Note 1] monsoon, a tropical cyclone formed and continuously fluctuated in the East Sea. Starting with two waves of low pressure and storm Linfa in just one week, the historic flood of 2020 was worsened by several low-pressure systems and huge storms in October, including Typhoon Nangka, storm Saudel, storm Molave. Then, in November, the Goni storm, Etau storm, and Vanco storm dumped significant rain on the area, causing widespread flooding in the Central region. Floodwater rose in numerous locations, splitting many regions. src
I still remember, around that time, every day, I nervously watched news and newspaper updates on the situation in places that were heavily affected by storms and floods. The devastation it caused was too severe, and the number of dead and missing people grew by the day. People's material assets are all drifting with the water. The thing that hurt me the most was when I heard that 13 soldiers had died because they accidentally charged the land while helping people escape the flood. Since then, I have not dared read any more news. So much loss, so much pain, and I cried. One year has passed, the historic floods have fallen asleep, but their heavy impacts are still there. Diseases, poverty, and social conflicts persist to this day.
The situation of natural disasters, floods, landslides is becoming more and more complicated in many places, not only in our homeland but also in many parts of the world. That is part of the consequences of climate change. Climate change has resulted in a slew of catastrophic weather events. It not only harm the environment but also has a significant influence on human existence.
Climate changes are global changes. In addition to altering natural cycles, occurrences, and events, people are to blame for worsening the issue. Therefore, both governmental and international organizations have come up with measures to prevent, respond and adapt to it. Besides large and long-term projects such as:
- reduce greenhouse gas emissions,
- forest planting,
- planning infrastructure in balance with the natural environment,
- .........
In the fight against climate change, our roles are very important. Have you ever wondered what you can do to help change this global problem? Yes! A big problem needs small actions.
We totally can limit climate change with small things in our daily activities such as:
Save electricity
do not turn on the air conditioner when not needed to minimize the use of electricity.
Reduce household waste
Especially plastic bags. In daily life, we often use a lot of plastic bags to store food or necessities. It has created a large amount of hazardous waste for the environment. Instead of using plastic bags, you can use paper bags. It is a feasible and very beneficial job because, in our hometown, there is Cham island, which has succeeded in eliminating the use of plastic bags. What I was surprised at and admired when visiting this island was not finding any plastic bags here.
Planting trees:
Planting trees around your house is also a practical and easy activity. Green plants not only help your home space become fresh and airy but also contribute to purifying the atmosphere. You can learn about planting methods or experiences at @hivegarden community on Hive. It's a great place to learn.
Limit the use of fossil fuels (coal, oil, etc...):
If you work close to home, you can use a bicycle to go to work instead of riding a motorbike. Limiting the usage of motorcycles will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is a small action but contributes to environmental protection.
Minimize household spending:
Cutting unnecessary costs will help to reduce output and the exploitation of resources and minerals.
There is one last thing, but not least, which is also what @ecotrain is doing, and that is to propagate and mobilize people to learn about the greenhouse effect and climate change.
Climate change is a global issue but closely related to the consciousness of each individual. As a result, everyone in society must understand common environmental challenges. Everyone, let's remind each other and spread the word about actions to help protect the environment. Boldly prevent and condemn acts that increase climate change.
I highly appreciate this topic of ecoTrain, which has created opportunities and encouraged people to learn about a hot issue for humanity, helping many people have more knowledge and awareness of environmental protection and helping society to have a better understanding of the environment. More practical actions to contribute to reducing the greenhouse effect and global warming. Thank you Ecotrain very much!
To contribute to climate change mitigation, I think it takes not one but many actions, and everyone's consensus. Above are all practical and directly meaningful actions for climate change reduction that I think need to combat climate change. I hope each of us is aware of our responsibilities and joins hands to contribute to environmental protection and climate change mitigation.
SMALL ACTION, BIG MEANING.

tuyệt vời chị ơi . em cũng đang cố gắng giảm thiểu rác thải mà mình thải ra ạ hehe
mỗi người một hành động sẽ mang lại ý nghĩa lớn em hè
You wrote it very well and I guess the motive of the write is good and effective, so as the headline. I think, one action for every individual would create a good bit of positive change which would be handy in tackling the climate change problem.
