Trees are sacred and we must treat them with Respect

Trees are fundamental to our existence the hold together the landscape creating an environment were biodiversity can thrive. Cut down all the trees you have a hot dry dessert landscape and that's exactly what we have been doing since we felt the need to use trees, burn for wood fire, slash and burn for land, chop for wood, paper etc

Most forests you see today are not virgin or natural forests unfortunately they most likely are replanted with pines or eucalyptus which are fast growing trees.

Many ancient oaks have been destroyed across Europe, oaks are majestic trees that live for thousands of years growing into giants. Now these are very few and far between and what is left is treated with little respect if a new super highway is planned to be built.

It seems there is a compromise, not ideal since i'm in the camp of leave the trees alone altogether, still i'd rather see something similar to this Japanese example to carefully bind the roots and transport the tree. It's true that this isn't the case for every tree in Japan but at least trees that are considered, sacred or special. Which there is normally at least one sacred tree in every village, shrines are built by trees and trees & nature in general are a massive part of the japanese cultural mindset.
