From my introductory picture, you already know where I stand,hahaha...Hello beautiful people. It feels so good to be participating in the ecotrain question of the week after a long while away. This is one very interesting question I must confess.
Food is an integral part of human life. We can't do without it.Hard question is are we eating healthy? Often times here in Nigeria, people mistake eating healthy for eating any food in large quantity and getting all fat but we also do know very well that because someone is fat is no sign of good health. Staying healthy means eating right. Whether it be fruits, vegetables, tin foods, pastries, grains, pastas, locally - made meals etc,one can take them in their right proportions. It isn't about how much but how well.
We all do remember "Balanced diet" right. From tender ages we were taught and told many times to keep our meals balanced with the six classes of food - vitamins, fats, proteins, mineral, carbohydrate and water. But we all do know we have messed up this balanced diet thing for years and it still counting...hahahahahaha...
Many have different opinion about what staying healthy really means but truth is we all do know that eating healthy is priority. So while we look at what food we should eat, what quantity, how about where it is coming from, preservatives used, production processes etc. With how digital the world is getting and people are all busy with their work lives and finding ways to earn a living, many depend on coffee, tea, snacks while on the go or any tin food like baked beans. So what happened to smoothies, yorghurts and some other very organic drinks and herbal teas. Naaaaaaaaaa, the answer will be "there is no time to prepare meals". Oh how our body needs those healthy foods! Because when we fail to feed our bodies right, trust me when I say it can choose a day (and it won't be a day you like) to let you know you have been depriving its essential nutrients.
Personally I follow lots of chef on social media platforms. Oh please don't ask me why? The world is evolving, there are creative new meal plans, and all that. Why do I want to be left out? Especially when I have a busy schedule and I know I could set up something really quick.
So "Zeelicious" ,a food page I follow on all social media platform, shares very interesting meal plan. She used to be really fat but she decided to stick to a healthy diet plan and she shares some of her recipes on her pages. Whether they be heavy or light meals, you wouldn't agree any less with her plan once you follow it. She stresses on "eating meals in their right proportion". Meaning you can eat a simple breakfast, yet healthy like wheat bread, boiled egg and tea or fruit smoothie for breakfast. Preferably heavy meals like our Nigerian garri, poundo with any soup for lunch and fried or jollof rice, tea or fruits, nuts etc. For dinner or something lighter. She stresses that rather than depend on junks for snacks, you can take fruits and smoothies rather with lots and lots and lots of water. If you want to take biscuits, there are very healthy ones like crackers to go for. Yipeeeeeeee...maybe I should start my own schooling in meals! I will think about that.
Basically, your meal should comprise of all classes of food. For me,it is fruits and water. I'd rather stick to those even for snacks. You can get a clue from my introductory picture - it's fruits all the way.
Thanks for engaging my blog. I hope you learnt something.
I have always watched Zeelicious on YouTube and I love how she prepared her meals in an easy and simple way. Yes, eating meals in the right proportion will give you a healthy life rather than eating in large quantities with no right proportion because it is only damaging the system.
Thanks for sharing your thought on the topic.
Yes of course. Thank you for reading through and getting the intended message!
