That's awesome! I just don't get the regulations (it's the same here, maybe not as much). When we need to go through bureaucracies to install a system in our own house, it shows that something is wrong.
Wouldn't a battery pack store that spare energy? Then you can go 100% off the grid.

As this is a big personal investment, we wanted to go totally by the book. The system is wrong, that I can tell for sure!
With regards to the batteries - that's the way to become totally independent but the total cost would triple and is unaffordable for us at the current situation. That's still an option if the battery technology improves and their prices become more affordable.
