Its been about 5-6 years since my father started fish farming. I was not into much of this bussiness but before one year from now I started to help him out a bit. This way is the best way to learn before you start on your own. Now you can say I've learnt about 30% of what my father knows already or may be a bit less. Because learning never stop for lifetime,it goes on and on.
In India, particularly in my region flooding season occurs mainly in may and june and july, but this year it shocked everyone. It's last week of August and water level are rising at 1 ft a day scale. Is it because of climate change ? I know nothing about it for now but it might be. A week before, Nag panchami (from this day snakes start to go into hibernation till the end of winter seasonal) was gone but snakes are still seen in roads, houses because holes are filled with water.
Toady , to distract fishes from escaping the ponds, i went and bought some fish foods . My father told me, this way fishes will be distracted from the flowing water from outside. It costs about 60RS( .9$) per Kg. I bought 5 KG of fise food of 4mm size. For today about 2 KG of this food is used for feeding.
In a matter of time after i along with my father threw the foods, it was finished. Pictures don't do justice to what i saw fishes eating the food.
There was a gap in one side of our pond so that the water gets in and it doesn't pressurize other part to slide down. But fishes can escape from the gap, so we have to make a barrier.
We made a bamboo bridge to cross between the gap. This has become a habit during flooding season.
I was scared to take this picture and hold my phone tight because if it fell down I'm not going to have a new phone or repair for about half a year lol.

I enjoyed reading your post about raising fish in India. One time we use to raise fish here in Ecuador, but now we do not.
Why? Isn't it favorable there to raise fishes?
We stopped when we moved to another house. We have been too busy to work with them; really no place to put them at the moment.
Ahh. Good to know you raised fishes once. It's a good bussiness to invest in and moreover you can have any fish served as a dish whenever you want.😁
So your village is flooding is it? By the way have you read the latest climate change report its there everywhere in news, the catastrophy is going to unfold. Picture abhi bakhi hai for further climate change devastation.
For sure. The way we are exploiting non-renewable resources , it will not take much time to hit by climate crisis and it's already began. If it's not controlled by now we are going to be in hell sooner than we expect.
Here our village gets flooded every year but it's somewhat good for us as its leaves alluvial deposits when dried which in turn makes soil more fertile. But in recent years water levels are rising in an uncontrolled way which causes problem. This is one of the result of environmental degradation.
That's interesting... so you feed the fish to make them grow larger and have a bigger dinner yourself, in the future? Nice mindset!
