It is becoming increasingly common to see population growth, particularly in urban centres and major cities around the world. This trend has been increasing for several decades, starting with the first industrialisation revolution that drove people to migrate to cities in search of better job opportunities.
Cada vez es más frecuente apreciar el aumento de la población, en particular en los centros urbanos y principales ciudades en todo el mundo. Esta tendencia se ha incrementado desde hace varias décadas, inicio a raíz de la primera revolución industrialización que impulso a la emigración a las ciudades en busca de mejores oportunidades de trabajo.
However, there are other reasons involved such as the demographic explosion, increasing birth rate, decreasing mortality and life expectancy among others.
Sin embargo, hay otras razones involucradas como la explosión demográfica, aumento de la tasa de natalidad, disminución de la mortalidad y esperanza de vida entre otros.
But is the problem overpopulation or population distribution on the planet?
¿Pero el problema es la sobrepoblación o la distribución de la población en el planeta?.
From my point of view both are relevant, but the distribution of the population is a factor that accentuates the problem, creating saturation and collapse of some cities and regions in contrast to other areas with low population density, even if they have sufficient conditions of habitability to develop population centres, in more sustainable conditions than in the cities.
Desde mi punto de vista ambas son relevantes, pero la distribución de la población es un factor que acentúa el problema, al crear saturación y colapso de algunas ciudades y regiones en contrastes con otras zonas con baja densidad poblacional, aun teniendo las condiciones de habitabilidad suficientes para desarrollarse centros poblados, en condiciones más sostenibles que en las ciudades.
This situation also causes the living conditions and habits in the population centres to be more about consumption than production, buying, buying, buying rather than producing what is used or needed, generating tons of waste that is mostly not recycled or reused, on the contrary, it goes to open waste dumps with a great socio-environmental impact.
Esta situación también ocasiona que las condiciones y hábitos de vida en los centros poblados sean más de consumo que de producción, comprar, comprar, comprar más que producir lo que usa o necesita, generando toneladas de desperdicios que mayormente no son reciclados o reusados, por el contrario van a vertederos de basura abiertos de gran impacto socioambiental.
In addition to the above, overpopulation requires housing developments that diminish natural ecosystem areas and affect their limits of balance and recovery, even leading to depletion, putting at risk biodiversity and the resources needed for future generations.
Sumado a lo anterior la superpoblación requiere desarrollos habitacionales que disminuye las áreas ecosistemas naturales y afecta sus límites de equilibrio y recuperación incluso llevándolos hasta el agotamiento, poniendo en riesgo la biodiversidad y los recursos necesarios para las próximas generaciones.
The problem of overpopulation is not only the excessive number of people, which is self-evident, but also underlies a web of complex problems caused by the impacts of the activities carried out in the areas they inhabit, and the resources they have available for living.
El problema de la sobrepoblación no es sólo la excesiva de la cantidad de personas, evidente por sí mismo, subyacen una red de complejos problemas por los impactos que ocasionan las actividades que se realizan en las zonas que habitan, y los recursos que tienen disponible para vivir.
Socio-cultural, economic and governmental conditions converge in the possible solutions to this problem.
Factores socioculturales, económicos y gubernamentales confluyen en las posibles soluciones de este problema.
Es muy importante promover el compromiso individual y colectivo en relación a disminuir la sobrepoblación, mediante la formación y apoyo en servicios de salud y los que sean necesarios para fomentar control de natalidad y una cultura a la sostenibilidad, fundamento esencial para un estilo de vida más cooperativo y responsable, considerando también los aspectos indicados anteriormente, evitar las zonas de mayor concentración poblacional.

I totally agree with what you said here. They say charity begins at home. If we all don't join hands as individuals to reduce the rate of overpopulation in the world,there will be no change because no government can single-handedly make this happen except we all join hands together.
