Oh man! I still don't know if reading your words makes me more sad or excited. Because from what I can tell, you are still sitting on piece of land with great potential. Those rains and storms you mention, are just begging to be allowed to soak up the soil, and give rise to temperature mediating trees. And honestly, I'm so happy to read about your yurt and autonomous solar system (plus I remember you mention that pond!) All in all, it sounds like a really sweet deal.
As for the building code (and forestry regulations), it may seem eternal, but things can still change. And even if they don't, I'm sure there are plenty of ways around it. In California I came across a group specializing on that: structures that don't need a code, for being small, non-to-semi-permanent, natural, or the combination thereof. I'm sure there is also an equivalent for Portugal.
So while I have only followed your journey on Hive, I feel that maybe your place does not want you to abandon it. But obviously, it is your decision, and I'll be glad to read about any new place your journey may take you to. And hey, when you're getting around to building, I'll be excited to join! ;-)
