I hope your cats didn't create any holes in the roof, that would be the icing on the cake, wouldn't it?
What are the other people on this land going to do? Do they have any solid plans for the winter? I remember a couple that needed a place and you opened your land to them, I hope you're not alone there and will find your way.. I'm quite sure you will, to be honest, but not going through that alone is better, especially in this situation.
