Vivo en una región del semiárido venezolano, sin embargo, dado que estoy a 600 msnm, existe una biodiversidad de montaña, que permite un clima bastante noble en relación a los habituales calores que normalmente se da en estas tierras larenses.

Esto me ha permitido desarrollar en el patio, un buen abono a partir de las excretas de los cerdos, como también plántulas de las semillas que reservo cuando estoy preparando alimentos; algunas se han desarrollado bien y otras por inexperiencia, se han perdido. Pero lo importante es no desmayar, e intentar cuantas veces haga falta, hasta alcanzar la meta, en mi caso particular, obtener plantas que nos den frutas y hortalizas.

Entre las novedades, tengo la fresa obtenida a partir de la semilla, fueron varios intentos y hoy por hoy tengo una planta con fruta, otra en crecimiento y una pequeña plántula de escasas tres semanas. ¿Yo?, pues feliz, dicen “el que persevera, alcanza”. Así que, aunque sea raro, la fresa si crece en el semiárido larense, bajo ciertas condiciones; sin embargo, esto ha sido un suplicio en los últimos años, y me refiero a los servicios públicos, específicamente el que no sale todos los días por la tubería, bendita agua que tanta falta hace para la producción.

So, although it is strange, strawberries do grow in the semi-arid region of Lara, under certain conditions; however, this has been an ordeal in recent years, and I am referring to public services, specifically the one that does not come out every day through the pipeline, blessed water that is so necessary for production.

La estatal hidrológica es un desastre y en este sentido no veo cuando realmente solucionaran el grave problema que se tiene con este fundamental servicio, pues estamos hablando del derecho a la vida; al no tener agua obligan a las personas a comprar cisternas, tanques, todo un negocio lucrativo para algunos, mientras que para las mayorías es un suplicio.

Flores de pepino - Cucumber flowers En fin, quiero concluir mi relato de hoy, con otra agradable sorpresa que me di al encontrar que la planta de pepinos estaba no solo con muchas flores, también ya muestra unos pequeños pepinitos que van creciendo; esta planta es tipo enredadera y para que estuviera más a gusto le coloque una reja inclinada y pueda trepar sobre ella. Lo que con cariño se hace, tiene sus buenas recompensas.
But anyway, I want to conclude my story today, with another pleasant surprise that I got when I found that the cucumber plant was not only with many flowers, it also shows some little cucumbers that are growing; this plant is a vine type and to make it more comfortable I placed a slanted fence and I can climb on it. What is done with love, has its good rewards.
