This is me, nice to meet you
I am one of those who believe that caring for the original seeds is the key to our existence as a species, because the more transgenic variants take over our food, the more compromised is the ability of producers to plant and harvest the fruits of the earth. And is that my friends, behind a transgenic seed there is a series of conditions that force farmers to assume huge debts to grow huge and beautiful but totally sterile fruits and vegetables, so the farmer is forced to follow the slavery relationship with the supplier of the seed and the technological package that goes with it.
Fortunately here where I live I can still buy some original fruits and vegetables, whose seeds have the ability to reproduce without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Living in a big city it is impossible for me to grow as much as I would like, in fact I live in an apartment with a balcony overlooking the street, it is spacious enough to grow not only basil, rosemary and chilies (and if all goes well, some strawberries will join in), but also basil, rosemary and chili peppers. and if all goes well some strawberries will join in), as well as some beautiful violet orchids that adorn my home.

Coriander seeds and plant, they germinate and grow very well on my balcony, surely on yours too.
Evidently from every fruit or vegetable I eat I take a good amount of seeds and save them for the future and the rest I sow in every park or public ground I see on my way from home to work or wherever I am going in the city. If at least one of the many seeds that I have left on the four sides of Caracas is lucky enough to germinate and develop, I will be satisfied.
I am a university professor in the area of geopolitics and I always comment to my students the importance of organic seeds, likewise my family also joins this "crusade" for our right to a truly natural and sustainable food, both for consumers and for those who produce the fruits that the earth provides us.
One green chili plant
One small red bell pepper sprouted from organic seed.
In my opinion there is nothing more gratifying than eating food that you grow yourself, even if it is something as simple as a chili bell pepper or a cherry tomato. On the other hand I like to use waste materials that I see lying around in the street like plastic or wooden containers to give life to my seeds. Some friends help me with this passion for planting at home and give me some substrate as well as coffee grounds and eggshells for my plants.
Rosemary, an easy-care plant with a pleasant scent
Obviously it is impossible to plant everything you eat but it does make a big difference to be aware of the importance of saving and distributing something as valuable as organic seeds, because at the rate things are going, if they disappear our survival would depend entirely on large corporations, therefore those who have access to these foods have the right to live, those who do not have to manage to ensure their existence (as happens in Sri Lanka).
My orchids, the queens of my balcony
