Time blocking is a great time management technique yet it's less used. 'Monotasking' and 'blocking off' time can help us to finish tasks more quickly. It may sound wired in this ear of 'multitasking'. But you will find how multitasking sometimes lags you off from efficiency and effectiveness. That's why need time blocking.
Suppose you have to prepare a presentation at your office. Also, you have to finish other daily tasks. Now, if you want to finish everything together, you may not see good progress which is maybe your priority. So, what you have to do is to stop focusing on other things, putting a block and start doing what's most important.
You see, it's nothing complicated. We just need to understand where and when we should use it. Also, knowing how it can help us will make us practice this more often. Also, I can use a very relatable example of time blocking. Instead of checking your email every now and then, you can fix a time to do that so it doesn't block your other tasks.
Time blocking is a very necessary decision to make when we need to focus on what's more important. What block you are putting, how much time you are taking as time off reflects the outcome of the tasks. This type of time management always helps us to manage our tasks more comfortably.
Remember to develop a better to-do list, set your priority, create a routine, put block if necessary not always. This way of time management can make us more efficient in finishing our daily tasks to long term goals.
Now, it's our choice to make whether we need to multitask or we need to time block.
