Add their families, and it is going to be a rough next few weeks and maybe beyond for them. Luckily, they are alive and mostly well in light of the situation.
If you hadn't heard or seen, some major flooding has taken over their normal every day lives and displaced them, leaving them without clean water, their food supply, power and, obviously for many - their homes. Things we often take for granted. Our extended fam down there needs your help!

Thank you man, thank you family. I read something, I think it was in a local newspaper, I will paraphrase: "When the waters go down we must be strong because there are still people there" and in the background a picture of a flooded neighborhood. It made me think about what we will find when the waters allow rescuers to enter. It is true, now begins another struggle, that of recovering from the disaster. It will take time and it will irremediably affect all of us who live here.

How nice of you, thank you very much for considering us in this delicate situation, it is the first time we see so closely a natural disaster, it is true that we are coming out of a terrible economic crisis in Venezuela, a disaster like this affects more than a precariousness in terms of services or food, it affects the lives of people, many unhappily lost their family and loved ones, it is a very painful situation that certainly moves our hearts. Update: Over 100 dead and 120 missing people as last reported on the news.
Waters from Pardinho(the 3 Km away creek that flooded my house) already went to Rio Pardo(the southern town shown in James Bond and Moonraker, which is also the name of the river) spreading destruction, then to Jacuí(the longest river in our state), and then to Guaíba Lake, flooding the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, the state capital which is right now completely flooded. Forecast is for the water to cross all Patos Lagoon towards the city of Pelotas and Rio Grande port, spreading further destruction there. Waters are already rising in Pelotas city.I'm slowly rebuilding the first floor of my house as I lost all furniture. I am very grateful to all volunteers who came to help us clean my home and also the donated 2nd hand sofa. Unfortunately my late Grandmother sewing machine had all wooden parts destroyed by the water.
