Actually, this time I was thinking of participating in the competition with a recipe, but I gave up at the last minute and decided to share a church that I went to with a friend I value very much a few days ago. I also want to tell a little about myself. Because these days I need to tell you something. It's been great for me to meet new people these days.

Aslında bu sefer yarışmaya bir yemek tarifi ile katılmayı düşünüyordum ama son anda vazgeçtim ve birkaç gün önce çok değer verdiğim bir arkadaşımla beraber gittiğim bir kilise ile ilgili bir paylaşım yapmaya karar verdim. Ayrıca biraz da kendimden bahsetmek istiyorum. Çünkü bugünlerde bir şeyleri anlatmaya ihtiyacım var. Yeni birileriyle tanışmak benim için çok iyi oldu bugünlerde.
The exact name of this church in Taksim is Santa Maria Draperis Church. Unlike Sent Antuan Church, this church is kind of underground. And it's a really old church. I visited here with a friend I just met and we sat inside for a bit and thought. I thought I should meet new people. I must embark on new adventures. Yes.
Taksim' deki bu kilisenin adı tam olarak Santa Maria Draperis Kilisesi. Sent Antuan Kilisesi' nin aksine bu kilise bir nevi yer altında gibi. Ve gerçekten çok eski bir kilise. Burada yeni tanıştığım bir arkadaşım ile gezdim ve içinde biraz oturup düşündük. Yeni insanlar ile tanışmam gerektiğini düşündüm. Yeni maceralara atılmalıyım. Evet.
This is exactly what the church looks like. These sculptures and drawings that appear when you enter the door are really good. I especially attach great importance to the sculptures in the buildings. Because these are the things that appeal to the eye. This is actually a term we use in Turkish. I hope I am good at English translation.
Kilise tam olarak bu şekilde görünüyor. Kapıdan içeri girince görünen bu heykeller ve çizimler gerçekten çok iyi. Ben özellikle binalardaki heykellere çok önem veriyorum. Çünkü göze hitap eden şeyler bunlar. Bu bizim Türkçe' de kullandığımız bir terim aslında. Umarım İngilizce çevirisi konusunda iyiyimdir.
There is such a statue on the wall on the left. This is a statue of Jesus. Churches here usually have statues of Jesus and the Virgin Mary. And I would like to say that these sculptures are both very old and very skillfully made. Talking to someone here, he said that the Virgin Mary statue had survived both fires and earthquakes for centuries.
Sol taraftaki duvarda böyle bir heykel var. Bu bir İsa heykeli. Buradaki kiliselerde genelde İsa ve Meryem Ana heykelleri olur. Ve bu heykellerin hem çok eski hem de çok ustaca yapılmış heykeller olduğunu söylemek isterim. Burada birisi ile konuşurken Meryem Ana heykelinin yüzyıllardır hem yangınlardan hem de depremlerden sağ bir şekilde kurtulduğunu söyledi.
On the left side of the church is the Virgin Mary painting. I think this painting was drawn with oil paint. Maybe they also used varnish. What we call varnish is very important for this kind of work. I covered a painting I drew in art class in middle school with varnish. My art teacher always said it was very important. I haven't been drawing on canvas for years. And I forgot almost everything.
Kilisenin sol tarafında ise Meryem Ana tablosu var. Bu tablonun yağlı boya ile çizildiğini düşünüyorum. Belki de vernik de kullanmışlardır. Vernik dediğimiz şey bu tür işler için çok önemli. Ortaokulda sanat dersinde çizdiğim bir tabloyu vernik ile kaplamıştım. Sanat öğretmenim bunun çok önemli olduğunu derdi hep. Yıllardır tuval üzerine çizim yapmıyorum. Ve neredeyse her şeyi unuttum.
There are exactly these in the next part of the church. There are stained glass windows on three parts of the wall. These stained glass are the cross and human drawings. There are still drawings and different objects in the middle. We also made stained glass in art class in middle school. I made a sea horse with stained glass. I kept this seahorse stained glass for years.
Kilisenin ileriki kısmında ise tam olarak bunlar var. Duvarın üç kısmında vitraylar var. Bu vitraylar haç işareti ve insan çizimleri. Ortada yine çizimler ve farklı objeler var. Ortaokulda sanat dersinde vitray da yapmıştık. Ben bir deniz atı yapmıştım vitray ile. Yıllarca saklamıştım bu deniz atı vitrayı.
There are such drawings on the ceiling in the right part of the church. These drawings have stood here almost intact for years. I hope these drawings and nothing here in the church will be damaged over the years. Because we are very lucky to have such a magnificent church here.
Kilisenin sağ kısmındaki tavanda böyle çizimler var. Bu çizimler yıllardır burada neredeyse hiç bozulmadan sağlam bir şekilde duruyor. Umarım yıllarca bu çizimlere ve burada kilisedeki hiçbir şeye zarar gelmez. Çünkü burada böyle muhteşem bir kilise olduğu için çok şanslıyız.
Here is another table. Three human drawings in this painting. I don't know exactly who the people in this painting are.
Burada bir tablo daha var. Bu tabloda üç tane insan çizimi. Bu tablodaki insanların kim olduğunu tam olarak bilmiyorum.
Here is a painting that I think belongs to the Renaissance period. In general, paintings from the Renaissance period are like this. The period that I like the most about drawings and sculptures is the Renaissance period.
Burada ise Rönesans dönemine ait olduğunu düşündüğüm bir tablo var. Genelde Rönesans dönemine ait tablolar bu şekilde oluyor. Çizimler ve heykeller konusunda en çok beğendiğim dönem tam olarak Rönesans dönemi.
Here is one of the most beautiful Virgin Mary statues I have ever seen. I think the statue they have been talking about for years as surviving earthquakes and fires is exactly this statue. It doesn't look like a very old statue.
Burada ise bugüne kadar gördüğüm en güzel Meryem Ana heykellerinden biri var. Sanırım yıllardır depremlerden ve yangınlarda sağ çıktı diye bahsettikleri heykel tam olarak bu heykel. Çok eski bir heykele benzemiyor.
In this part of the church there are rooms and cabinets. Probably someone lived here years ago. It would be strange for me to live in a church. I think it's very strange as I've seen a few horror movies about it before.
Kilisenin bu kısmında odalar ve dolaplar var. Muhtemelen burada yıllar önce birileri yaşadılar. Bir kilisede yaşamak benim için garip olurdu. Daha önce bununla ilgili birkaç tane korku filmi izlediğim için çok garip olduğunu düşünüyorum.
There is another Virgin Mary statue here. Statue of Virgin Mary holding a cross in her hand. This statue does not look as old as the statue in the photo above. The paints they used in these sculptures seem to have not worn out for years.

There is such a painting on a wall visible on the right at the entrance to the church. These tables really mean a lot. But unfortunately I don't know the story of these paintings. I would love to have someone tell us the story of the things here as we walk around the church.
Kiliseye girişte sağ tarafta görünen bir duvarın üstünde böyle bir tablo var. Bu tablolar gerçekten çok anlam ifade ediyor. Ama ne yazık ki bu tabloların hikayesini bilmiyorum. Kiliseyi dolaşırken birinin bize buradaki şeylerin hikayesini anlatmasını çok isterdim.
This is what the ceiling of the church looks like. There are no human drawings on the ceiling of this church, as in other churches. For example, the ceiling drawings in the Hagia Sophia Church are really perfect. Especially the drawings on the entrance door are very different and very good. Hagia Sophia is really big and magnificent.
Kilisenin tavanı ise böyle görünüyor. Bu kilisenin tavanında diğer kiliselerde olduğu gibi insan çizimleri yok. Mesela Ayasofya Kilisesi' ndeki tavan çizimleri gerçekten mükemmel. Özellikle giriş kapısındaki çizimler çok farklı ve çok iyi. Ayasofya gerçekten çok büyük ve muhteşem.
Another painting that I think is very meaningful and has a very good story. This church is really very mysterious. Fewer people come here to visit because they usually don't see this church. I don't usually see this church either, but that day my friend saw this church and we both decided to enter this church. I think I've visited this church about 20 times before and every time I thought about how mysterious this church is.
Çok anlamlı ve çok iyi hikayesi olduğunu düşündüğüm bir başka tablo daha. Bu kilise gerçekten çok gizemli. Buraya ziyarete daha az insan geliyor çünkü genelde bu kiliseyi görmüyorlar. Ben de genelde bu kiliseyi görmüyorum ama o gün arkadaşım bu kiliseyi gördü ve ikimiz de bu kiliseye girmeye karar verdik. Sanırım daha önce yaklaşık 20 kere bu kiliseyi ziyaret ettim ve her seferinde bu kilisenin ne kadar gizemli olduğunu düşündüm.
I wonder how old this drawing, which appears on the wall on the right side of the church, is, but I could not find the person to whom I could ask this question. It's a bit like the paint on the right side of this picture has disappeared. I'm sorry about that. Because I'm pretty sure this picture is really old. This church is also a very old church. Someone said that there were fires and earthquakes here several times.
Kilisenin sağ kısmında duvar üstünde görünen bu çizimin kaç yıllık olduğunu çok merak ediyorum ama bu soruyu sorabileceğim kişiyi bir türlü bulamadım. Bu resmin sağ tarafındaki boyalar yok olmuş gibi biraz. Buna üzüldüm. Çünkü bu resmin gerçekten çok eski olduğuna eminim. Bu kilise de çok eski bir kilise. Burada birkaç kere yangın ve deprem olduğunu söylemişti birisi.
Here is a statue of John the Baptist and what I think is Jesus. This statue stands ahead on the right side of the church.

Finally, there is the statue of the Virgin Mary praying here. People put flowers on the stones here.

It is a pleasure for me to see and visit this church again and share the photos about it here. I am very curious and very interested in making new friends, traveling and talking, and sharing our thoughts. I hope I can meet good people in my life.
Bu kiliseyi görüp tekrar gezmek ve bununla ilgili fotoğrafları burada paylaşmak benim için çok mutluluk verici. Özellikle yeni arkadaşlar kazanıp gezmek ve konuşmak, düşüncelerimizi paylaşmak konusunda çok meraklı ve çok ilgiliyim. Umarım hayatım boyunca iyi insanlarla tanışabilirim.

I like the funny statue of Saint John the Baptist with the kid (I don't think it's Jesus because if I remember well, Jesus got baptised when he was around 30 years old.) and I !love the fresco / painting of Saint John baptising (I think this time he's baptising Jesus) !CTP
