I think one of the easiest ways to teach is through example and this is where it is possible for our mums or our mother figures to teach us things indirectly. In this vein, something I have learnt and would like to replicate from my mum in these is her resilience in the face of adversity and her incredible strength.

This lady suffers from a disease called "trigeminal neuralgia" which causes pain in the trigeminal nerve which is one of the most important nerves in the face, this causes her problems to eat, problems to speak and the pain is very strong and I have never seen this lady complain, beyond an "ouch" or a few tears, she has never pigeonholed herself in "because me" or "what will I be paying", but she accepts that she has this illness and does what is necessary to feel better with a lot of acceptance and without repression of emotions.

In fact, she had been cured with radiation, which was another process that this lady carried with a grace and strength worthy of a queen, and after having Covid-19 the pains returned and there she is again, with her splint and her medicines without grudges against the world or even God, simply accepting her process and that for me is AMAZING, because I am the opposite hahaha, I complain and think that I am paying karmas from past lives with every little thing that happens to me.

Mum is also a very important example of being there and looking after your family, with dad who gets sick very often, with my uncles and aunts and at the moment with my grandma, who is quite ill, so thank you mum for showing me by your example these great values.

This contest entry felt a little too personal but it's nice to reflect on our loved ones, sometimes we don't value those who are so close to us.

Thanks for making it this far.
