Hello everyone! :) Today I have a little nostalgia for my island in Greece. This year we were really unlucky with our trip as we were sick a lot and the island was really overcrowded. Recently there have been a lot of tourists from Romania, but they come unlike other tourists by cars, which has caused a bit of chaos. The island I grew up on is relatively small and therefore not designed for so many cars, which is why we were stuck in a traffic jam on Thassos for the first time in 26 years. I really didn't expect anything like that :D Nevertheless, we were able to see a few things and had a lot of fun. We were up in the mountains, went partying once, ate in our favorite place in our favorite restaurant. We celebrated my birthday and the anniversaries of family members' deaths. It sounds like exactly the rollercoaster ride that this trip was but that's life sometimes. In the meantime, we have decided to only go to Thassos every two years so that we can see other places in the world. We'll see where we end up in 2024, but I'm already looking forward to the next time I see my beloved Thassos. If you were planning a trip to Greece but find islands like Mykonos or Santorini too crowded and overpriced, then you should definitely check out Thassos. You can swim, hike, party, dive and see sights such as the "Bathtub of Aphrodite" or beautiful waterfalls in the mountains. We will come to Thassos next time when there are fewer tourists and the surrounding countries don't have summer vacations :D Especially in autumn many German tourists come to Thassos for hiking and in May the season already starts because there are many bicycle races. So there really is something for everyone! :)

From your pics, it looks like an exquisite location! Thanks for sharing about this place that is so lovely and special to you! 😊
Thassos looks like a beautiful place for people to visit for a week or two. With Romania being one of Greece's neighbors, it only makes sense for them to travel by car. Maybe those Romanians can make their return visits using chartered buses instead? This could help cut down on many of the downsides of travel by automobile, among them heavy traffic.
Given that Thassos is a Greek island, I'm guessing that Thassos has more or less the same weather all year long. If this is the case, then visiting Thassos during an alternate period can provide for an interesting travel experience. August is the traditional or expected Holiday month, so a visit to Thassos in a month such as May or October would offer all the good things about Thassos only with less traffic and more space for people.
I'm just trying to provide suggestions for visitors to enjoy the Thassos Experience without feeling like they're at Disneyworld or some other tourist traps where people spend more time in line waiting than they do actually experiencing life and being there.
