Five Years From Now + Hive Power Up Day (Ladies of Hive Community Contest #68)

in Ladies of Hive3 years ago

It's time for another Ladies of Hive Community Contest! While I always plan to join the weekly contests, time isn't always on my side and I end up not being able to share any entry. So I'm going to squeeze this one right now, in between my yawns and the now grumpy Little Mister.

This week's questions are very thought-provoking, as usual, and I intend to answer the second one.

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

But before that, let's go back to five years.

The Law of Attraction -- the power of visualizing... do you believe in it? They always say, be careful what you wish for. Or that our tongue has a power to make what we say happen.

Almost five years ago, I said, I wanted to be able to focus on my growing children. Jokingly, I told my husband that I would like to become a plain housewife. That thought got engraved in my mind during my transition months in between jobs. I knew in my heart, I could give up my career for my children.

Fast forward 2020, the pandemic happened and that desire in my heart grew more. So I gave up my career and decided to stay full-time with the kids. So yeah, from an Office Manager to a Household Manager cum Teacher! Hmmm... Not bad.

Five years from now.

I can see us already settled back in the Philippines, living a peaceful life in the countryside. My eldest would be entering the University so that would be something big for us. Just thinking about that gives me butterflies in my stomach.

We will still be homeschooling and just tending to our mini homestead. Nothing extravagant. Nope, I do not wish for a lavish lifestyle. For as long as we meet our needs, I am good with that.

Has Hive changed your prospects?

Hive has played a big part in our lifestyle over the past 4++ years. It opened our eyes to a lot of online opportunities and needless to say, it also has a weight on some of our decisions. A lot of great things are bound to happen and we are lucky to be here now to witness them. I'm going to ride it up to the next five years and beyond!

February Hive Power Up Day

Having said the above, I know I am here for the long term and it's just right to put my money where my mouth is, as they say.

Last year, I was on a 10000HP goal which I obviously missed. I got derailed and this year I am set to make set it straight.

So I am again joining the monthly Hive Power Up Day and while I am no longer eligible for the prizes, I know that powering up is very much worth it in the long run.

Again, for my own reference and accountability, I am putting out this table. It's harder to earn HP now than it used to be when Hive was just ~30 - 40 cents. While I try my best to come up with posts regularly, I know I need to try harder.

2022 Hive Power Ups!

Sort:

Life on cruise control.
Keeping it simple.
Being to sole breadwinner of my kids I didn't have much choice and I missed some of the family milestones. Rather than being dependent on Government handouts I worked as a FT Nurse but took on other work to keep the bills paid. I have finally dropped one of those jobs and Hive filling it's place. One less clock to punch for this workaholic. I can see myself retiring early if I play my cards right.

Thank you for sharing @arrliinn ❤️

Yes, yes! Simplicity and contentment are what keep us, and what we're trying to embed in the kids as well. Of course, if it were not for my supportive husband, then this new career of mine wouldn't have been possible.

Cheers to early retirement! We all would love that. Hopefully Hive will drive us faster to that state. ❤️

I think it's great that you switched careers! There is nothing easy about being 'just a plain housewife', believe me! Add home schooling to that and I'm sure other things, and you have a lot on you plate!

My kids are grown and out doing their own thing, but I long for the day when I can retire and do those things I've been putting off for when I return to being just a housewife again.

Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day!

Being a housewife definitely isn't easy, so salute to all stay-at-home moms (or dads) out there. There's always a lot going on and to be honest time just always slips by.

But then again, I am much happier to do this for my family than be in an office and be put under lots of pressure but still be unrecognized.

Amen to that! Take care and enjoy!💜🤗
