It's funny, that no matter how our moms have a tendency to drive us nuts, after a while of not seeing the, there is a yearning for their love and comfort. My mom and I have not had an easy path or an easy relationship. Life was hard on us from the get-go. But my mom's love was never in doubt.

So since I got my drivers license back in 2003, I have made sure I fetched my mom from the airport every single time. There's just something so exciting about it. I hate airports when it's time to say god bye- and I have good reason for that - but for now I will just wallow in the glow and warmth of having my mom home.

Mom and I had a lovely Chai Latte at Vida é Cafe. I must admit they do make the best ones, despite me moaning about the price. I have had some truly awful ones where there is just half a cup of foam, or half the milk is substituted for water or there is so little chai powder, its like drinking a cup of milk... but for 50ZAR. Vida é is lovely and all coffees are accompanied by a bite-sized, individually wrapped dark chocolate. So I guess it's worth it!

The drive to the airport is longer than what I am officially allowed to drive, and there's an uncomfortable amount of walking, but thank the god's we had a porter at the airport to help us with the luggage and as far as driving was concerned, there was no traffic in either direction, so it was smooth sailing <3

Mom and I did a little shopping at Woolworths which is South Africa's version of Marks & Spencer, and I was spoilt with a glorious free-range rotisserie chicken (so I didn't have to cook supper), and some beautiful berries to add to my yoghurt or to just enjoy as snacks when no one is watching! Hehehe. Actually, in moderation, they are pretty guilt-free.

Mom and I then picked up an apple crumble with fresh cream to serve for tea with the kids (arguably not so guilt-free, but hey, we all need a spoil!).
