At the beginning of autumn, the 44th edition of the “Tre Gocce d’Oro” competition took place in Bologna, the most important event for beekeeping in Italy. It’s a competition in which all beekeepers can participate, presenting one or more jars of honey. The judgment is expressed by a jury of tasters who are experts in sensory analysis of honey.

A inizio autunno si è svolta a Bologna la 44esima edizione del concorso “Tre Gocce d’Oro”, l’evento più importante per l’apicoltura in Italia. Si tratta di un concorso a cui possono partecipare tutti gli apicoltori, presentando uno o più vasetti di miele. Il giudizio viene espresso da una giuria di assaggiatori esperti in analisi sensoriale del miele.

The event involves the entire city and the squares fill up with enthusiasts from various regions of Italy. You can buy excellent local honey, beekeeping equipment, food and wine products and much more.

The municipality also puts on a beautiful photography exhibition, which I had the pleasure of visiting and today I would like to share the most interesting shots with you. This year's theme was “honey and cuisine”.

L’evento coinvolge tutta la città e le piazze si riempiono di appassionati provenienti dalle varie regioni d’Italia. Si possono acquistare ottimi mieli locali, attrezzature per apicoltura, prodotti enogastronomici e molto altro.

Il comune mette anche in piedi una bellissima mostra fotografica, che ho avuto il piacere di visitare e oggi vorrei condividere con voi gli scatti più interessanti. Il tema di quest’anno era “miele e cucina”.

During the exhibition, many topics were touched upon such as the difficulties of the beekeeping sector, climate change, the serious problem of fake honey and bee diseases.

One of the photos that impressed me the most is the one with the hamburger, with the description: “What is a hamburger and fries doing at the entrance of a beehive? The author of the photo wants to make us reflect on the contrast between natural food, such as honey produced by bees, and the so-called junk food, or ultra-processed food, with low nutritional value”.

Nel corso della mostra sono stati toccati molti temi come le difficoltà del settore dell’apicoltura, il cambiamento climatico, la severa problematica del miele contraffatto e le malattie delle api.

Una delle foto che mi ha più impressionato è quella con l’hamburger, con la descrizione: “Che ci fa un hamburger con patatine all’ingresso di un alveare? L’autore della foto ci vuole far riflettere sulla contrapposizione tra cibo naturale, come il miele prodotto alle api, e il cosiddetto junk food, o cibo ultra-processato, dal basso valore nutrizionale”.
