Where do your thoughts go to having read the title?
Perhaps to a beautiful villa up a winding hillside road to a secluded little, romantically lit restaurant with candles on a well laid table offering two chairs facing each other. A bottle of Champagne in an ice bucket and gentle music, which does not take away the sound of waves rolling over rocks onto a white beach. Surely your own idea has taken this setting to the next level of perfection in your own mind’s eye.
It could be any wonderful moment with someone who is close to you and with whom you share your deepest thoughts. Whatever, it is not what I had in mind when I set out to write this article. In fact, very far from it.
I live in a neighbourhood where things are struggling to turn out the way some of us wish. It is a new concept of a gated community in this area where many people have come to enjoy the idea of a secure lifestyle, where they have been able to build their own homes. It grew really, quickly and from the beginning no proper rules were applied, which is causing some problems with security issues.
That lays the ground plan out and so we also have a WhatsApp group within, one for chatter and one for emergency security services. I just had to laugh as a message came through that there were two suspicious looking vehicles that have been parked on the side of one of the roads for some time and would the security have a check.
Naturally, all the community, about 600 homes would have received this message and probably quarter to half would have been waiting for the answer as with the festive season looming, we are all very aware of our security issues now. Poor, innocent, romantic couple would have received the biggest shock when our security company pulled up next to their car, torches on and whatever else they might have done to secure the situation.
The message came through within five minutes, ‘All secure, boss! It was a couple having a romantic time together, but it’s ok now as we asked them to move on back to their home for their intimate moment boss’.
