Hello, girls: Congratulations on International Women's Day! 🎉
I congratulate you because today is the day established to do so, since in my understanding, every day is an International Women's Day.
For too many centuries we were set aside, far away, behind, eliminated from the list, from any list.
And even after the establishment of this date we have continued to be so.
But just think, who were the ones who established this date? It was not men, although they approved it. It was us women who fought for our rights to be treated as equals, to have the same rights.
And, mind you, I'm not taking a position against men, nor speaking ill of them.
My point is the following.
For many years in almost all countries of the world women have been seen as delicate objects, as something fragile, sometimes elegant. The concept of feminine has been taken as that stereotype of women that we see in the novels of the Brontë sisters.
And it doesn't necessarily have to be that way. I can be delicate, and I have been. I can be fine and elegant, which in fact I always try to be and behave that way. But, when I need to be strong, when I need to impose myself, when they want to get the better of me or when they respect me, at that moment I remember that in addition to being a woman I am a human being and I need respect. And that is when I stop pretending to be fragile, when (if I want) I break away from those stereotypes established by society, in order to impose and demand the treatment I deserve.
And even so, understand that I am still a woman, I am still fine, elegant, delicate. I am simply a person who acts according to the situation, to the times. Just like those women who fought against what was established by the times of their society.
I am a concert guitarist but if I were a truck driver, a field worker, a forensic scientist or a boxer I would still be feminine, I would be a full woman.
That is also what I mean when I talk about breaking stereotypes.
Everyone thinks that because they see me playing the guitar in long, elegant dresses, I cannot occasionally put on a pair of pants, shorts, flip-flops and dress differently in a less “classic” way. Because then when they see me they think I look less feminine. And that is not the case.
There is a lot of talk about women's empowerment, and yes, it is necessary. But we cannot wait for someone else to empower us; we have to empower ourselves. Each one of us has the opportunity to empower ourselves. We cannot wait for another year or another March 8th to pass before congratulating ourselves for being women, for empowering ourselves, for achieving our objectives, our goals; for having a place in society, for having earned a position in our community.
That is why I tell you that every day of the year should be International Women's Day. Just as every day of the year should be International Men's Day. Yes, because if any of us black women discriminate against a man, we would be doing the same thing that those men did back then and we would be lowering our standards.
That is something we should never allow. We cannot fight for our rights at the expense of eliminating the rights of others. If we talk about equality, we must also fulfill it.
However, we should be happy to be women. We want to be happy because we are, according to my wife, if not stronger (because we cannot deny biology) we are more physically and mentally resistant.
We are also the only ones who can create a life within us. We are each unique in our individuality. We are free of prejudice complexes, especially with regard to clothing. And speaking of clothes, they always look better on us.
We are the only animal species where the male sex is not prettier than the female sex. In other words, in the human species, women will always be prettier, more beautiful than men, each in their own way.
Because in each one of us beauty is found, in each one of us that inner strength that I spoke to you about before is found, each one of us has the intelligence to solve all the problems that we face, in each one of us the key to our own happiness is found, we only have to call it and start walking in pursuit of our dreams.

Hola, chicas: Felicidades por el día internacional de la mujer! 🎉
Las felicito porque hoy es el día establecido para hacerlo, ya que mi entender, todos los días son los días internacionales de la mujer.
Demasiados años siglos estuvimos apartadas, alejadas, atrás, eliminadas de la lista, de cualquier lista.
Y aún después de la instauración de esta fecha lo hemos seguido siendo.
Pero solo pónganse a pensar ¿quiénes fueron los que instalaron esta fecha? No fueron los hombres, aunque ellos lo aprobaron. Fuimos nosotras las mujeres las que luchamos por nuestros derechos a ser tratadas como iguales, a tener los mismos derechos.
Y, ojo, que no estoy tomando una posición alguna en contra de los hombres, ni hablando mal de ellos.
Mi punto es el siguiente.
Durante muchos años en casi todos los países del mundo se ha visto la mujer como un objeto delicado, como algo frágil, en ocasiones elegantes. Se haga tomado el concepto de femenino como ese estereotipo de mujer del que vemos en las novelas de las hermanas Brontë.
Y no necesariamente tiene que ser así Yo puedo ser delicada, de he hecho lo soy. Puedo ser fina y elegante, que de hecho trato de serlo siempre y comportarme de ese modo. Pero, cuando necesito ser fuerte cuando necesito imponerme, cuando me quieren pasar por arriba o me respetan en ese momento me acuerdo que además de mujer soy un ser humano y necesito respeto. Y y es entonces cuando dejo de aparentar ser frágil, cuando (si quiero) me salgo de aquellos estereotipos establecidos por la sociedad, para poder imponer y exigir el trato que merezco.
Y aún así, entiendan, que no dejo de ser mujer no dejo de ser fina, elegante, delicada. Sencillamente soy una persona que actúa de acorde a la situación, a los momentos. Igual que aquellas mujeres que luchaban en contra lo establecido por los tiempos de su sociedad.
Soy guitarrista concertista pero si fuera camionera, trabajadora del campo, forense o boxeadora aún así seguiría siendo femenina, iría siendo yo una mujer plena.
A eso también me refiero cuando hablo de romper estereotipos.
Todos piensan que porque me ven tocando la guitarra con vestidos largos y elegantes, no puedo ponerme de vez en cuando un par de pantalones, unos chorts, chancletas y vestirme de forma diferente de forma menos “clásica”. Porque entonces cuando me ven piensan que me veo menos femenina. Y no es así.
Se habla mucho de empoderamiento de la mujer, y sí, es necesario. Pero no podemos esperar que otra persona nos empodere tenemos que empoderarnos nosotras mismas. Cada una de nosotros tiene la posibilidad en sus manos de empoderarse por sí misma. No podemos esperar a que pase un año otro 8 de marzo para felicitarnos por ser mujer, por empoderarnos, por lograr nuestros objetivos, nuestras metas; por tener un lugar en la sociedad, por habernos ganado una posición en nuestra comunidad.
Por eso les digo que todos los días del año deberían ser el día internacional de la mujer. Como mismo todos los días del año debería ser el día internacional del hombre. Sí, porque si alguna de nosotras de negra o discrimina un hombre estaría realizando la misma acción que hicieron aquellos hombres de aquel entonces y se estaría rebajando su nivel.
Eso es algo que nunca debemos permitir. No podemos luchar por nuestros derechos a costa de eliminar los derechos de otros. Si hablamos de igualdad, debemos cumplirla también nosotras.
No obstante, sí deben alegrarse por ser mujer. Queremos alegrarnos porque somos, a decir de mi esposa, si no más fuertes (porque no podemos negar la biología) somos más resistentes física y mentalmente.
También somos las únicas que podemos engendrar una vida en nuestro interior. Somos únicas cada una en nuestra individualidad. Estamos libres de complejos de prejuicios sobre todo con el tema de la ropa. Y hablando de ropa siempre nos queda mejor a nosotras.
Somos la única especie animal donde el sexo masculino no es más lindo que el sexo femenino. O sea en la especie humana las mujeres siempre seremos más lindas, más hermosas que los hombres, cada una a su manera.
Porque en cada una de nosotras recibe la belleza en cada una nosotros recibe esa fuerza interior de las que les hablaba antes, cada una de nosotras recibe la inteligencia para solucionar todos los problemas que hacemos presente, en cada una de nosotras decide la llave para nuestra propia felicidad solamente tenemos llamarla y comenzar a andar en pos de nuestros sueños.
Feliz día internacionalde la mujer chicas.

Aquí en Venezuela tenemos un dicho de dice "el hecho de, no implica qué"y siento que a tu mensaje le viene perfecto porque no por ser mujeres significa que no tenemos voz en o derecho de expresar cuando algún tipo de trato no nos gusta para así exigir ese respeto que todos los seres humanos merecemos. Porque más allá de ser mujeres, somos personas cuyo poder empieza en nosotras mismas, como bien lo expresas 🫂
