Thrift shopping, this has always been something I love doing, that's why when I saw this prompt on the Ladies of Hive community, I couldn't help but write about it.
Do you like to Thrift shop? Shopping for used clothes and useful household items are a practical, economical, and earth friendly way to outfit yourself and home. And once in a while you make that perfect ‘find.’ Share with us that found treasure and why was it perfect?
Thrift shopping has been around for a very long time, and has really been a life saver for some of us because of how affordable they usually are, and sometimes when luck is on your side you could find a treasure.
For those of us who aren't familiar with the phrase thrift shopping, it is the shopping or buying of used items like clothes, household items, toys, shoes etc. Not only are these items affordable, but they also serve sustainability purpose by reducing the amount of waste in the environment, if it's in good shape, why can't it be used by some other person.
While in the University, there was this market that was close to the campus, it was a very big market, and was called 'Choba Market'. The interesting thing about this market is that it has special market days, let me explain, on Non-market days, the market usually looks some what dry or deserted, but come on the days when it's a market day, you wouldn't believe the difference, it's usually as if the market literally sprung to life.
So here's the thing if today being Friday is the market day, the next market day would be on Saturday of the following week, and then Monday of the week after, leaving out Sunday. That is how it is being calculated.
Whenever my sister and I were financially buoyant,we would usually patronize this market as we couldn't really afford to get the new clothes all the time. My sister is usually the one that does the calculation so we don't miss the day and go on a wrong day. Recounting this experience now sounds funny, but some years ago it was our reality, it's partially still my reality though as I still patronize the thrift market especially when it comes to clothing articles.
I've found some treasures actually while thrift shopping that I've had some good memories with, like the gown in this picture, I actually got it at a thrift market. If you happen to be in a thrift market in Nigeria, and see the way these sellers advertise their wares, you could literally spend most of what you have on you.
This here is also is a clothe (the inner wear) I got from a thrift market, funny enough is that I didn't really plan on getting it, but while walking past to get something else, I saw it and decided to check it, and it suited me, and I went ahead to pay for it.
Here also is another find I made during one of my shopping.
This is my response to the #ladiesofhive prompt on thrift shopping. What's your thrift shopping experience, kindly share with us.

I am a big fan of thrift market. Most of the quality wear I have today was gotten from there. I can be lucky in picking nice wears to the point that you will think it's a new one.
I don't only shop for myself alone, but my kids included 😆😍
This is how much, I am possessed by thrift
Lolz
😂
We're in the same boat o.
Thrift shopping has really helped most of us save money a lot because even within you will find some clothes with higher quality than those in the boutique.
Exactly, you will find good quality among the same thrift most times.
I also like thrift shopping instead of buying new clothes at Mall. For me some prelove clothes are so cheap but can make you pretty already, you just gotta have to be a fashion stylist! 😇❤️

Oh thanks a lot, I appreciate.
That’s the thing with thrift shopping
You actually get the really nice things when you don’t plan on buying anything and you are passing by
If you don’t take care you will just spend all your money buying thrift😂
😂
I don't know why it's usually that way. Thanks for dropping by 🤗
Thrift shopping can be a life saver! There are times one can get high grade items at a ridiculously low price.

This is very true, I hear that sometimes people from boutiques go to these thrift shops, buy, laundry, and then press and sell them as new ones, I don't know how true it is though.
