I plant them all through the garden for the same reason. But just before a frost I would pick a lot and bring them in. :)) I also dehydrated them for the chickens, and back then, the dehydrators were in the house....

Oh never thought of that, feeding the chickens with them. I too clip the last of them, but I dry them out to keep the seeds for next year. Marigolds are such pretty, bright flowers that are easy to grow.
