I never had a dream car but my first car was a '62 Fiat 4 door. Little thing which was good because it ate starters. I went thro 7 the first year. So I'd park it on a hill and push it to start it. It was a standard, 4 on the floor. I was working 3 part time jobs and drove 100 miles a day in it.
It didn't have a lot of power that first year. My husband and I got stuck between to large hills in NY one time. It would run out of gas part way up. So we slingshotted back and forth and finally made it over the top. Turns out it was running on 1 1/2 cylinders. It was much better after an engine job. I had it a couple years, called it the little red tomato.
Oh I had a little fiat as well! A lot different to Fiats now. Isn't it great how those first cars stick in our memory? We have so many more stories about them than modern cars! That's funny that you slingshotted it and still made it. I better he did the engine job?
No, that's one he didn't mess with. That was back in 1977 I think and he took to a mechanic he liked.
