If December 31st should mean anything at all, I think it should be this. Simply a reminder that in spite of adversity, we have survived, have pulled through, and moreover, have yet good things in our lives to be grateful for. Then again, it doesn't really matter which day of the calendar you remember this in, does it? Provided you still remember.
