Two heads are better than one they say and it's true. So a husband who suppresses his wife's opinion or to have a say in their household is not wise at all.
You're right, there are civil ways to discuss or talk things over, without resulting in conflicts. Both spouses should have an open communication to resolve issues that concern them.
