Can you introduce yourself and share a little about how you first discovered Hive and what made you decide to join the platform?
@ibbtammy: My name is Ibinabo Tamunokuro but I go by ibbtammy on the chain which is a fusion of my first name and surname.
I got to hear about Hive from a friend of mine. Whenever I called him he'd end the call abruptly saying he wanted to go write or have an interview with someone. I kept asking him what it was that usually took his time until he told me it was Hive.
Back then I was still in college writing my final exams, I begged and begged him to introduce me to the platform and he kept saying "IB when the time is ripe I'll teach you", Three years later the time was ripe and here I am on this wonderful platform with no regrets.
At first, I decided to join the platform because I was curious about it, my friend had great stories to share about Hive and I also wanted to experience it firsthand. Secondly, I wanted to join the platform because I was always bored and needed to channel all that boring energy into something tangible, hehehhehe it did pay off after all.
What projects or communities are you currently involved in on Hive, and how do you contribute to them?
@ibbtammy: I am currently involved with the DIYHUB community where I am a curator. I curate original content in the DIYHUB community and other communities as well as long as these posts fit our curation guidelines.
Curating original content has always been my favorite part of Hive, I could literally wait till my voting mana recharges so I can be able to vote other author's posts so when presented with the opportunity to vote with a larger voting power I was excited.
It's been an amazing journey working with other curators in the community and more exciting to see members of our beautiful community embark on mind-blowing DIY projects that you can only imagine machines to do.
How has your Hive journey evolved since you first joined, and what has been the most rewarding aspect for you so far?
@ibbtammy: The world is evolving and so is ibbtammy, hehehe. I went through my blog the other day and I read some of my old posts, I was surprised at how much my writing has improved. I am not the ibbtammy of 2022 as this Hivean is growing in all ramifications.
The most rewarding aspect of my being here is seeing the hiveans I introduced to Hive do well, I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that I could actually guide these people and they get to a point where they begin to do well without my supervision. I mean that's every teacher's joy, right?
Again I love how I am gradually creating a name for myself and becoming the type of Hivean that I have always admired.
You've been active on Hive for a while now. What keeps you motivated to stay and continue contributing to the platform?
Hive is my home and what happens in your home? As a homeowner, you do all it takes to keep everything running smoothly right? That's the same way I feel about Hive.@ibbtammy: I really don't know about a lot of people but Hive is addictive, once you join Hive and begin to see what Hive is all about for yourself you become hooked, and in a good way.
What also motivates me to continue to contribute to the platform is giving back to the platform. Hive has done a lot for me and I'm not about to dump it and move on with my life.
I always get inspired by veterans who are sold out to the blockchain, always contributing immensely, these people motivate me to do better here.
The rewards are great but nothing beats doing what you love doing effortlessly.
What do you enjoy the most about being part of the Hive community, and how has it impacted your personal or professional growth?
@ibbtammy: What I enjoy most about the Hive community is mutual respect, Hiveans respect themselves regardless of their age, sex, race, or reputation. I could literally drop a comment on an an elderly man’s post and he’d never look down on my comment because he thinks I’m younger.
Coexisting with people from different parts of the world has made me more exposed. Getting a peek into different Hiveans' lives to an extent has impacted my life, which is evident in the way I think and handle a lot of things and this has helped both in my personal and professional life.
For someone new to Hive, what advice would you give them to help them navigate the platform and build a meaningful presence?
@ibbtammy: To all the newbies out there, before you contemplate giving up on Hive first give Hive a chance. Your journey at the beginning might test your patience, it might make you question your capabilities, but give it time it will definitely pay off.
Again there's power in engagement, and by engagement, I mean quality ones, not the ones that look like you're trying to kiss people's asses for votes.
Hive can appear to be so broad at the beginning but with time it gets easier and more interesting.
Make good friends as these friends will later play crucial roles all through your time here, don't just be friends with only the big guys, that redfish you have as a friend, grow with him or her and watch as things turn around.
Again, your early days or months on Hive are your sowing period, watch those little seeds blossom into gigantic trees with time as you water and nurture them.
What are some of the challenges you’ve faced on Hive, and how did you overcome them?
@ibbtammy: At the beginning of my Hive journey, I felt so insecure about my writing, heck I'll pass on so many prompts and contests because of the mind-blowing entries and don't even get me started with when I felt so invisible here.
How did I overcome all of these? I started to believe in myself one day and improved my writing skills. I developed my own writing style that sort of made people stay glued to my posts and above all I took the comments on my posts seriously. Whenever got a good review on my posts I would smilesmile like I won a lottery and this motivated me to give my next my best.
Today I can join any prompts or contests that resonate with me and wouldn't be worried about other authors and it feels so great to get to this level of my Hive journey.
You often share personal stories and experiences on your blog. How do you decide what to write about, and what kind of content do you enjoy creating the most?
@ibbtammy: I get inspired by any and everything and once I'm in that zone nothing else matters except my keyboard and the words that flow out of my head. I share my personal stories on only Hive because I consider Hive as my diary where I can pen anything without being judged or laughed at.
Since I consider Hive as my diary, this diary of mine is filled with so many of my life experiences.
Lastly, if you could give one piece of advice to the Hive community as a whole, what would it be?
@ibbtammy: What we have going on here is beautiful, the power of togetherness and a place where one can comfortably lay down one's hair without being judged or trolled, let's try to keep what we have going, and not try to destroy it, but rather everyone should try their best to bring value to the ecosystem as this is what sets us apart from other social media platforms.
Who else do you suggest should be interviewed here?
@ibbtammy: I recommend @go-kyo
