As you know, every week there are 2 questions where we can choose which one to answer in a blog or answer both at the same time. This week are the questions by @trangbaby and I'm about to answer the first one with a true story, but this time it's a little more cheerful.
2️⃣ Romance scams are on the rise and anyone can be a target. Scammers create fake profiles on dating sites and apps, or contact their targets through popular social networking sites like Instagram and Facebook. They establish a relationship with their victims and build trust, sometimes for months or even years. They eventually ask for money, often pretending they need it for medical bills, travel expenses, or unexpected emergencies.
What will you do to avoid falling victim to online dating scams?
At this point in the life of the internet, I believe that we have all been scammed, deceived or cheated through the networks. In this case it is a love scam. Well we have to travel to a few years ago when Messenger was used by email.
It was very fashionable to make friends on that platform and rooms were found to chat with men and women from all over the world. My sister and I always went in. I always got Arabs and I was always suspicious that these people were not telling the whole truth, so I never took anyone seriously.
On the other hand, my sister met a boy from Mexico and they started a love relationship, they exchanged phone numbers and then they made phone calls.
They lasted a few months and in October my sister gave us the news that Luis would come to Venezuela for the 15th birthday of his daughter, my niece, Gabriela.
We didn't believe the news, but on Luis's birthday he made his appearance, so he looked for a hotel and stayed for the party. But he did not come with the intention of visiting only, the man rented an apartment and shortly after they were married.
But where was the lie? How is there a scam?
After the marriage, whenever we met at my mother's house on weekends, they would make jokes that they had been scammed. That she had told him lies and that in the same way he had told lies.
She had told him in her internet chats that she worked and he had seen her thinner because of the messenger. He told her that he had money and that he even had an inheritance from his parents.
The truth was not so hard, she did not work but she still dedicated herself to him, to the house and they had a girl. He had a hard time here without papers or permits to work, so he dedicated himself to doing what he likes so much, cooking the delicious dishes of his country. So the lie was not so serious and everything was forgotten soon they decided to get married and start a family.
My sister was lucky that the deception was not as serious as we have seen many who have had worse things happen to them. But you have to be very attentive to the lies and scams that are presented every day on social networks, people who claim to be something and it turns out that it is not.

Los estafadores crean perfiles falsos en sitios y aplicaciones de citas, o contactan a sus objetivos a través de sitios de redes sociales populares como Instagram y Facebook. Establecen una relación con sus víctimas y generan confianza, a veces durante meses o incluso años. Eventualmente piden dinero, a menudo fingiendo que lo necesitan para facturas médicas, gastos de viaje o emergencias inesperadas.
¿Qué hará para evitar ser víctima de estafas de citas en línea?
A estas alturas de la vida del internet yo creo que todos hemos sido timados, engañados o estafados mediante las redes. En este caso es una estafa amorosa. Bueno tenemos que viajar a unos años atras cuando se usaba el Mesingger por correo electronico.
Estaba muy de moda hacer amigos por esa plataforma y se conseguian salas para chatear con hombres y mujeres de todas partes del mundo. Mi hermana y yo siempre entrabamos. Yo siempre conseguia Arabes y siempre me dio desconfianza de que esas personas no decian toda la verdad, asi que no me tome nunca a nadie en serio.
En cambio mi hermana conocio a un chico de Mexico y entablaron una relacion amorosa, se intercambiaron los telefonos y entonces ya se hacian llamadas telefonicas.
Duraron unos cuantos meses y en Octubre mi hermana nos da la noticia de que Luis vendria a Venezuela para los 15 años de su hija, mi sobrina, Gabriela.
No creimos la noticia, pero para el dia del cumpleaños Luis hiso su aparicion, asi que busco un hotel y se quedo para la fiesta. Pero no venia con intenciones de visitar solamente, el hombre alquilo un apartamento y al poco tiempo se casaron.
Pero, donde estuvo la mentira ? Como es que hay estafa ?
Despues del matrimonio siempre que nos reuniamos en la casa de mi madre, los fines de semana, ellos hacian bromas de que habian sido estafados. Que ella le habia dicho mentiras y que de igual manera el habia dicho mentiras.
Ella le habia dicho en sus charlas por internet que trabajaba y la habia visto mas delgada por el mesingger. El le dijo que tenia dinero y que hasta tenia una herencia de sus padres.
La verdad no era tan dura, ella no trabajaba pero igual se dedico a el, a la casa y tuvieron una niña. El se las vio duras aqui sin papeles ni permisos para trabajar, asi que se dedico a hacer lo que tanto le gusta, cocinar los ricos platos de su pais. Asi que no fue tan grave la mentira y todo se olvido pronto decidieron casarse y formar una familia.
Mi hermana tuvo suerte de que el engaño no fuera tan grave como hemos visto a muchos que les ha pasado peores cosas. Pero hay que estar muy atentos a las mentiras y estafas que se presentan cada dia por las redes sociales, personas que dicen ser algo y resulta que no es asi.

That's true @trangbaby, I've known several cases of people who have met through the networks have gotten married and are in a very nice union, but that's a ticket that one buys blindly and sometimes it goes well and others not so much .
