I want to start by congratulating the friends who won Issue # 12, they did a great job. On the other hand, the two questions this week are closely related and I think I can answer them both.
1️⃣ If you had a choice to "COOK" or "ORDER DELIVERY," which would you choose, what food would you have, and why?
Or
2️⃣ When you cook, what is one of the best dishes of your country/region? Share the recipe with us, please!
But we go in parts
In the city where I live there is no delivery or at least I am not aware of it, anyway I am not a lover of asking for food to be brought to my house. I prefer to go to the restaurant, so, in addition to going out and putting on my best dress, I have the option of having the menu in my hands and ordering from the list on the menu.
In my family we all know how to cook, men and women. When I have all the ingredients for the dish, I get inspired and put a lot of love into it.
Recently there were the Christmas and New Year holidays and one of the traditional dishes of that time in my country is Hallacas. We all go to the preparation of this dish, one cleans the leaves, another spreads the dough, another places the filling and another ties the Halca with wick. It is a team effort and in family.
This time we did not make cake, we were craving to eat some Cinnamon Rolls, my niece prepared them and they were delicious. We must repeat this recipe, there are many birthdays to be made, we will surely make it for one of us.
One of the foods that we always eat outside the house is Pizza, but we like to make it ourselves to add more than one ingredient. I mean that in a pizzeria they offer it to you with cheese or ham, the rest is additional and has an added value. By doing it ourselves we can add everything to it.
A typical dish from my region is the Osobuco Stwfed.
You need:
Osobuco Meat (it is the cut of the leg of the cow)
Potatoes,
Onion,
Garlic,
Color (Papprica)
The meat cooks for a long time as it is quite tough. When it is soft enough, add the ingredients to make the stew and let it cook until it becomes a sauce. Serve with rice and salad.
I want to invite my friends @ambarvegas and @arlettemsalas to participate in this exciting challenge, I want to see what they can surprise us with.
Aha cooking, I have been in a kitchen since a very young age, cook from the heart and memory or whatever is available on the day, never the same thing, Oh and I don't photograph my food so unfortunately I could not share events from the kitchen handed down to me by my father.
Not being a blogger on cooking events I will call on three South African ladies whom I know will do our country proud @lizelle @jaynie and @fionasfavourites to take up this challenge!
That's right dear friend @joanstewart I know @lizelle and @jaynie and I know they cook very well, I've seen the delicacies they publish. I know that they will represent their country very well as well as surely you do too.
Presenting their publications on food I would rather shy away and stay with the birds, bees and trees knowing the Ladies are all superb in representing traditional South African food.
Oh gosh! Thank you for calling me over, @joanstewart! I will give this some thought and see what I might come up with. Not promising, though 😂
Have fun Fiona I am sure you will cook up a storm.
Haha thanks for the compliment and the shout out Joan. Was thinking of entering @zord189's foodie contest this week but will all depend on the energy levels and enthusiasm for creativity in the kitchen haha xxx will see how it goes.
ENTER PLZ! XD We need more food recipes
Of course friend @zord189, I have a good one, I will give it to you
Can't wait! :D
Have fun either way, another explanation about a braai and pap all is good 😃
All is good except no beers and wine, well limited counting down and watching now.... Slim vang sy baas 🙃
hahahaha!! I am no pap expert! My mom used to make a killer tomato side for pap with blue cheese... ai. So many recipes I never got! :(
I have enough for now and thankfully have a wine farm supplier when that runs out... CHEERS hon! MWAH!
Hmmm... Ossobuco
I cook it in a similar way but if tomato paste and some wine, in addition to your ingredients minus the potatoes!
Sounds delicious!
Actually it is very tasty @silversaver888 it is an economical, yielding and tasty dish.
Cinnamonrolls are my favorites we have a shops here and I cannot pass by the shop without buying one
