I recommend reading this book that has been in my personal library for many years, received as an inheritance from my mother.
This book is a synthesis of the author's main ideas about his theory of the interpretation of Dreams, in this case applied to art and literature, through some works in particular by important authors such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Goethe.
It also raises the question of why we are unconsciously attracted to certain works in particular.
A probable answer is the unconscious emotional connection or as other authors argue, that every work is autobiographical and in each reader what hooks is to recognize ourselves in a sensitive way in what is said or represented, and that's how I feel identified when I read a book that causes me pleasure like this one in particular.
In this sense, art in general expresses the particular and universal in our memory.
In the case of Freud, he insists on his projection of the early years of our unremembered but very marked childhood in our life as well as in our cultural heritage.
It is expressed in the artist from a creative, intuitive and imaginative act.
Art transcends us and somehow helps to overcome time. Freud establishes in this book the concentric circle of life, which is the core of art, the only one capable of defeating death, giving eternal circularity to life.
In this book some illustrative examples of dreams in reality and in literary fiction are given. Definitely these authors Darwin, Marx, Einstein as well as Freud decisively nourish all the renewing thought of contemporaneity and our sensitivity and perception with respect to our culture and time.
There are definitely readings that are the best shield for problems. Freud wrote with the eyes of the soul.
